BLACKBURN Rovers target Michael Keane wants to stay at Manchester United and show new boss Louis van Gaal that he is ready to break into the first team at Old Trafford.
Keane impressed during a loan spell at Ewood Park in the latter stages of the 2013/14 season and Rovers are eager to bring him back to the club next term.
But the defender still has eyes on a first-team place at United – particularly after the recent appointment of Van Gaal.
He hopes to show the new boss that he can one day replace the now departed Rio Ferdinand in the centre of defence at Old Trafford.
“That’s the dream,” he said. “I still think I’ve got a chance of making it at United. While I still think I’ve got that chance I will stay and try to prove myself.”
Keane and his twin brother Will are among a number of young players hoping to break through at United.
“Hopefully we’ll have a good pre-season and prove ourselves,” he said. “If we do that, we’ll have a chance to play.”
