PADIHAM suffered their heaviest defeat of the season but it was a match that hinged on a controversial decision 20 minutes from time.

The Storks were trailing 3-2 when keeper Sean Davis raced from his line to clear a ball and crashed into Town striker Aaron Bowen leaving both players injured on the ground.

The referee opted not to blow to stop play and Ashley Ruane chipped the ball in to the unguarded goal.

Davis was forced off and full back Tom Bradley replaced him in goal and Warrington went on to score another three times.

Earlier Steve Beck’s third minute strike was cancelled out by Padiham’s Ben Allen.

Goals by James McCarten and a Connor Millington double gave Town a 3-2 lead before Dominic Craig pulled on back.

After the Davis incident, Town added three more goals from Liam Dawson (2) and Christopher Gahgan to secure the win.
