Colne’s penultimate game of the season was at Winsford who were fortunate to be on level terms at half-time thanks to two goals which ended in the net after deflections off Colne defenders.

Colne opened the scoring on 23 minutes after Ed O’Neill and Dominic Craig combined to play in Lee Barrett who cut inside and then fired a shot into the corner of the net.

But four minutes later Winsford were back on level terms in bizarre circumstances when James Blair drilled a cross into the Colne penalty area and Chris Thompson parried the ball onto the back of one of his own players and it rebounded into the net.

NIgel Coates’ side regained the lead five minutes later when Jason Hart calmly rifled home into the far corner.

But back came Winsford who drew level before the break when Adam Foy’s effort was deflected by a defender into the roof of the net.

Winsford’s winner came seven minutes after the restart when Callam Gardner volleyed home.
