BARNOLDSWICK Town suffered a Maine Road mauling after going down 7-0 at the Manchester outfit.
Town found themselves 3-0 down in the opening 12 minutes and it was an uphill task from there on in.
With just three minutes on the clock, a stray pass from keeper Jake Chadwick – intended for Anthony Pollard – went straight to Saul Henderson who simply stroked the ball into the net.
The Town defence was none existent as further poor defending and miss-directed passes saw Henderson after five minutes and Neil Chappell after 12 minutes gifted further goals.
Town briefly managed to contain the damage and Gregory Hall in the Maine Road goal made several fine saves.
But all hopes of a comeback were gone three minutes before the break when Henderson completed his hat-trick to make it 4-0.
The second half started well for Town, Hall being worked on numerous occasions until the 68th minute when disaster struck again.
Matthew Cavanagh’s attempted header back to his keeper fell short and Bentham nipped in to score Town were in disarray again soon after, losing two more goals in the 77th and 78th minutes.
