A makeshift Bacup Borough side fought back from a poor first half showing to almost take what would have been a deserved point.

With the backlog of fixtures stretching Brent Peters squad to the limit there were a host of players injured or unavailable today, including Gareth Wager, Tommy Turner, Nathan Finnegan, Adam Turner, Artjoms Butorins and Karl Stanley.

In addition Matty Bryan, Dave Limabrooke, David Gray and Daniel Cocks were all in the squad but carrying knocks.

Recent signing Christopher Sutcliffe made his debut in defence and there was a first start for Ben Shedwick. Lee Oldham and Arron Kirk both returned to the side following injury.

Town led at the break through goals from Sam Aspinwall and Jack Kenny.

Borough hit back after the break and scored through Darren Evans’ 60th penalty. But nine minutes later, Evans was sent off for apparently kicking out at an opponent.
