BURNLEY pair Tom Heaton and Michael Keane have been named in Gareth Southgate's England squad but there is no place for Turf striker Andre Gray.

Goalkeeper Heaton and centre back Keane are both included in the squad after impressing for the Clarets this season but Gray, who has nine goals to his name and was reportedly watched by Southgate in recent weeks, has been overlooked with Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe earning a recall.

England face Germany in a friendly on Wednesday before taking on Lithuania in a World Cup qualifier four days later.

Heaton has two England caps while Keane is still waiting for his senior debut.

With Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Manchester United frontman Wayne Rooney ruled out through injury there had been speculation that Gray could earn his first call up to the Three Lions squad.

But Southgate has opted for Defoe, Marcus Rashford and Jamie Vardy as his attacking options.
