SEAN Dyche insists Burnley have to be patient in the transfer market as he continues to try and add to his squad.

The Clarets have had a bid accepted for Charlton's Icelandic winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson so far this summer and he will arrive at Gawthorpe early next week to undergo a medical and put pen to paper.

But Dyche has seen bids for midfielders Dale Stephens and Jeff Hendrick knocked back by Brighton and Derby respectively.

The Burnley boss, who is putting most of his squad through a pre-season training camp in Evian this week, said work was ongoing to bring new faces into the club before the Premier League season gets underway on August 13, but added it is not an easy task.

"There are still a few things happening back home with other players, who probably won’t make this trip, but we are looking to add to the group," he said.

"There are always a million questions at this time, but I’ve said it so many times; we are in a very good position as a club.

"We are back in the Premier League with some good finance behind us, but the finance in the Premier League is a whole new level. It’s not just the fees; it’s the ongoing contracts.

"Our market is still a careful one and we can’t go throwing numbers around. We’ve all seen some clubs are doing that and it is a difficult task, but we still think we’ve got players who can adjust into our squad and sometimes, you have to be patient, including myself.

"I want the players in as early as I can, but other clubs don’t just go “of course, have our players!

"It doesn’t quite work like that. Often one or two moves start the system rolling, but we are not strong enough to make the wheels turn by throwing around enormous fees.

"We’ve got money; I’ve never denied that. It’s just how we can use that money and to what level."
