ANDRE Gray believes the Championship promotion race will go "down to the wire" and has told Burnley to treat their remaining games as "15 cup finals".

The Clarets missed out on a place in the top two after being held to a goalless draw at Reading.

But with back-to-back home games at Turf Moor, where they have been beaten only twice all season, Gray is confident of stretching their eight-game unbeaten league run to keep their focus on the automatic promotion spots.

“If we can win our games at home it gives us a fighting chance," said Burnley's top scorer," ahead of Saturday's visit of Rotherham United, and Tuesday's home game with Nottingham Forest.

"We’ve got some good results away as well. We're not losing games which is the main thing, we just need to keep picking up wins now.

“Every game is massive for us now. There are 15 cup finals and we’ll just take every game as it comes, get the three points on Saturday hopefully and then move on to Tuesday.

"We got a good point last Saturday and hopefully we can get three points this Saturday."

With previous leaders Derby County losing at home to MK Dons on Saturday, going six without a win and dropping to sixth place, and second placed Middlesbrough being held to a third straight draw at Leeds on Monday to extend their winless run to five, there have been changes at the top in a short space of time.

Asked if he was looking at the results of teams in and around the third placed Clarets, Gray said: “It’s hard not to, but at the same time there are 15 games to go and a lot can change between now and then.

“Teams aren’t going to win every game, there are going to be ups and downs and we’ve still got to play one another."

All they can do, he feels, is concentrate on themselves.

“We take every game as it comes," said the 24-year-old.

“You’ve looked at the likes of Derby who were top on Boxing Day and now they’re sixth.

“Hull were how many points clear of us after beating us on Boxing Day and we managed to beat them the other Monday and we’re back to square one again.

“There’s a long way to go.

“It will go down to the wire I think."
