IT WAS interesting to see Joey Barton talk about the fact we are operating this season ‘under the radar’.

He said that the fact the pressure and the focus was elsewhere was helping us and I find it hard to disagree.

In a similar way to the last promotion season, we seem to be getting on with things quietly and away from the media glare for now, although another two games have just been selected for the magic lantern so that might change.

It certainly helped us then and was almost instrumental in bonding the lads together, with much of the outside world convinced we’d fall away.

It didn’t happen two years ago and I honestly can’t see it happening this time around.

I’m not sure how we’ve managed to steer clear of the scrutiny afforded to other teams but it does seem to be the ‘Burnley way’.

Sean Dyche isn’t a manager who is desperate for attention and he lets the performances of the team do his talking.

Sure, he was nominated for the manager of the month award and I expect there to be at least a couple more of those before the season is out.

But throughout his time here he’s been clear that he and his staff set the objectives and his players are then asked to achieve that, regardless of whether we’re on the box or not.

His mantra of ‘one game at a time’ might bore the pants off the press corps looking for a manager allowing his mind to wander to bigger things but in the Championship that’s all you can plan for.

It’s a competitive league and the table clearly reflects that with just 10 points from Hull in top spot and Ipswich in 10th.

Any of that top ten (and possibly even a couple of teams just below that) will know that a top six spot is in sight so keeping focused is key.

The international break will have allowed the lads a bit of rest and hopefully the injuries picked up by Sam Vokes and Ben Mee will have cleared up in time for the visit of Brighton on Saturday.

Brighton have been in superb form but so have we and the game at the Turf should be an absolute cracker.

Let’s start the run in to the end of the year with a bang… and three points!
