ANDRE Gray is “touch and go” in his recovery from a hamstring strain according to Sean Dyche, but the Burnley manager has not altogether ruled out the striker being fit to face Reading tomorrow.

The Clarets’ record signing underwent a precautionary scan after limping out of the first half of Monday night’s 0-0 draw at Derby County.

But it revealed only minimal damage, and Dyche said the 24-year-old would be given every chance to be declared available this weekend.

“We’ll see, he’s touch and go I think,” said the Burnley boss, who named an unchanged line-up for the fourth game in a row at the iPro Stadium.

“He’s got a bit of a hamstring and it’s a little bit sore. We thought it was nothing too major and doesn’t seem like it is.

“The physios are happy that it’s nothing too major. It’s just whether we decide if he’s ready for Saturday or not.

“He had a scan but only as a precaution and it was minimal. He’s had a few days’ rest and he’s already feeling a lot better.

“He was out on the grass today (Thursday) but it’s whether or not we make a decision on that.”

But Dyche said he would have confidence in either of the two fit and available strikers - Rouwen Hennings and Chris Long - filling in for Gray if necessary, alongside Sam Vokes.

“That’s the challenge,” said the Burnley boss.

“Whatever happens and why you get a chance then it’s always your chance to enjoy it, grip a shirt, become part of what it is. That’s the way it is and it can come in many different ways throughout a footballer’s life.

“If someone’s injured then that’s another one that people have to grip hold of and take their chance.

“I think Rouwen and Longy have done well. They’ve been sitting behind the scenes. They’ve got much fitter than they were when they first came in,” said the Burnley boss.

“Longy had a strange pre-season, we knew that. Rouwen had come from a different culture and different pace of the game and I think they’ve adapted well.

“Certainly fitness wise they’re coming right up to speed - other than true match fitness but that final bit comes from playing.

“The two of them have worked very hard and certainly look like people who want to compete, and that’s important.”
