The Clarets kick off their final fixtures with a trip to West Ham United on Saturday.

With three of their remaining games away from home, and only one away win all season, Sean Dyche’s side are facing a tall order to climb off the foot of the table and survive in the Premier League.

The gap to safety was stretched by defeat to Leicester on Saturday, after Matt Taylor missed a penalty and Jamie Vardy scored the winner within a minute. As such Jones admitted it will be a test to achieve a second top flight season, but one they are preparing to face head on.

“We’ve got four massive games that we want to be positive for,” said Jones.

“There was disappointment (against Leicester) but we’ve got to get ourselves back up for Saturday’s game.

“We can’t let it keep us down.

“It’s a test when disappointments happen but it’s all about how you react.

“We’ve just got to get ourselves up to prepare for Saturday and for another big game.

“We knew (Leicester) was going to be a very big game for us and we knew the importance of it.

“It’s a bad way to lose a game. It’s just how you react to it.”

Jones made 13 appearances for the Derby County side which in 2007-08 recorded the worst points total in Premier League history.

Without a win in their first 10 games Burnley were tipped to beat that record. But they turned their season around with back-to-back wins against Hull and Stoke to start a four-game unbeaten run.

And Jones, who stayed up with Wolves in their first season after promotion as champions of the Championship in 2009, feels the Clarets can defy the odds again.

“We need to look forward to the next four games and concentrate on what we’ve been doing. Anything can happen,” he said.

“We know the mentality of the staff and the manager and there’s no chance of that changing.

“We’ve got four games to give our all and see where we are at the end of them.”
