£750k offer could be enough to secure star Bryson for Clarets

BURNLEY’S initial offer of £750,000 could be enough to land target Craig Bryson from Derby County this week, after personal terms were agreed.

The Clarets are on the brink of landing the goalscoring midfielder, but the Rams are causing a hold-up by their insistence of not allowing their prized asset to go on the cheap.

The Championship play-off finalists have valued the Scot at around £2m, after being voted the club’s player of the year in two out of the last three seasons and bearing in mind his contract which has another two years left to run.

But although Derby knocked back Burnley’s offer, it is understood there is nothing in Bryson’s existing terms to say that a bidding club need to pay more than £750,000 for the 27-year-old.

MORE TOP STORIES:

Initially it was thought that figure would only permit talks to take place.

However, more in-depth investigations into the terms of the new three-year deal he signed in May 2013 have shown that sum would be enough to spark a sale.

As such, the only reason for Burnley to increase their offer is if a rival bid was made.

It is understood Queens Park Rangers, who beat Derby with a dramatic late winner at Wembley in May to earn their place in the Premier League, have monitored the Scotland international but have not yet made an official approach.

In the meantime, Bryson continues to train with the Rams, who returned for pre-season last week.

The former Kilmarnock midfielder, who scored 16 goals last season, has taken part in the early fitness tests and training sessions.

Derby’s assistant manager Paul Simpson insisted it was business as usual for Bryson as far as the management and coaching staff were concerned.

“It does not unsettle the staff because we are still planning the same way,” he said.

“The club have turned the bid down, that is what we have been told and we just plan as normal.

“These things happen all the time. Last January, there was speculation all the time that maybe Will Hughes could be leaving the club.

“So, it is the same type of story but a different name and we just have to get on and plan that Craig Bryson will be with us and will be with us until somebody tells us different.”

Meanwhile, Burnley are expected to secure Michael Duff on a new deal this week.

The long-serving defender is set to commit to his 11th season at Turf Moor – and second in the Premier League – and a coaching element is likely to be included as part of the terms.

The Northern Ireland international, who has clocked up more than 300 appearances for the Clarets, spent part of his summer holidays working towards his UEFA Pro Licence coaching badge.

What a fantastic bit of business if this is true - reports are also coming from Derby that this is the case.

16 goals and 14 assists last season from midfield and an international to boot for less than a million.

Go get him Sean.

Really pleased if this is true ,but can we trust its not SG's usual baloney here . I cant imagne for a second that Derby wll part with him for that amount of money . However iIf the transfer comes about and we get 3 or 4 experienced Premier players / exciting young talent to add to the mix then ill be very happy.

Apparently it has been tweeted by Derby's main journalist that the £750k clause is enough for him to sign - he has already agreed personal terms at the back end of last week when he met with the manager and his agent.

A great signing.

My understanding is that The club's lawyers have been involved because Derby are saying that the clause is just to allow a club to speak to Bryson, whereas it appears upon investigation that once the clause is met by a club, (Which we have done) then Bryson can actually leave for that amount - hence the delay whilst the men in suits argue the toss. The only potential issue would be if another club offered more then we would have to match their bid

Looks like we have won - Bryson is reported to be extremely keen to move to Burnley and should sign this week.

Ok , and if he's set on moving then it's in Derbys interests to delay and publicise the situation to get other offers if they can .
Agree it is excellent ,and could turn out to be another bit of Dyche transfer magic .
On another note , I would still like premier experience and young classy Premier loan players because so far Its all been about players SD knows very well from personal dealings in the Championship.

Look at the Blackburn pikeys - trying desperately to turn this news into a negative, although anyone who has played against Derby and watched Championship football, knows what a player this lad is - he was Derby's player of the year in two out of the last three years and the other player of the year was Jason Shackell, and we have got him as well!

I suppose Luke Varney and Chris Brown are stellar signings in comparison.

Agree, but there is only so long they can delay the inevitable - The player has agreed personal terms, we have met the required release clause so it should be tied up quickly.

Do you mean the free transfer that's not on £10k a week and is back-up for Gestede to ensure the prolific Rhodes has a foil? Scored enough in a struggling Championship side and less than average Championship wages so seems ok business to me. Either way, Rovers did the deal then spoke about it - the right way rather than underhandedly using the media to unsettle a player to save yourself a few quid. Miserly bunch of comboys.

Hmm who to believe - an ignorant internet troll or Doncaster Rovers actual chairman, the man who signs all the cheques and is fully aware of what his players have been offered wages-wise - that's a tough one.

And if you think that nine goals in 43 games is 'enough' I think that shows what low ambitions Blackburn supporters have for their players.

Blackburn knowing their place since March 2014.

Not enough for our expectations - but then we've got more ammunition for a big man from Conway, Marshall or King. Myself - I believe Bowyer rather than a chairman who's trying to appease fans and save face while losing his main asset on a free. Nice to be talking Rovers again on a Dingle thread. Back on topic - has he signed yet? Has Sordell? Has Ings? Where's Stanislas? Does anyone at your Godforsaken club know anything about the Premier League?

It's like getting a wild card for the Grand National and turning up on a donkey. Which then goes lame.

Wouldnt using the media have inflated Brysons price in this instance ?

Anyway , rather 'Miserly Cowboys' than 'More Money Than Sense Indians'.

Thanks. Difficult one to call as like you say if any other club is interested you've now got an auction situation. Maybe the player and agent are also aware and that's what the delay's all about as the contract clause seems straightforward. Sounds like it might be a gunshot wound to the foot.

The fact is whilst putting on your red dress you are becoming insanely jealous of everything Claret. We could actually let Ings's contract run out as we will have enough money coming in to compensate that. You on the other hand are profusely bleeding money outwards, left right and centre. If I was you Barry, I would concentrate on your own downfall and not worry about us too much. We will do just fine in the Premiership just like we did last season in gaining promotion from the Championship. Blackburn Rovers living in the past since 1979.

Unfortunately he still has 12 months on his contract and with the money we have coming in we could actually keep him and let him go for nothing, I mean we only paid £1 million for him. What a enviable position to be in, shame the same cannot be said about Rhodes, you do need the money from his transfer to keep the sinking ship afloat.

I wish somebody would shoot you, any takers out there !!!!!!!

Did those training facilities help the team last season to finish 2nd in the Championship and gain promotion to the Premiership ?

After all you prepare for match days on the training pitch and take that into he game.

Not being funny but if I was Shorn Douche I'd probably offer Best a one season contract. Proven Premier League goalgetter at limited risk and you'd also be able to demonstrate the Douche's man management, maybe getting one over your superior rivals in the process. You know it makes sense.

Hello the old urge for horses surfacing again eh? Another stain on the mattress. Control yourself will you.
I am really surprised at that because all his recent communications have shown a very distinct interest for women's dresses.
Ah but with so many personas he often doesn’t know who he is and indulges himself in many ways. That mattress must be some sight!!!
He probably doesn't have mattress he probably has a stable, lol.

I wonder how all those cocky no-dads who where only recently denying the existence of FFP feel now that their clubs is flinging players over board at a cost of millions in a frantic bid to reduce the horrific wage bill that will ultimately sink the ship.

I hate to say I told you so, but...... I TOLD YOU SO!

It's all too little too late and it really couldn't happen to a nicer club. Enjoy your financial spanking, it's going to be hilarious when the accounts are released in December! Talk about squeaky bum time.

ps. Blackburn Rovers 1 - 2 Burnley.

Hmm what to do, what to do, do I join a Premier League club, do I stay with my current side that finished third only the eight points behind massive Burnley or do I join mid-table no-hopers and perennial under-achievers Blackburn?

Have heard this but nothing yet on dcfc website and I hope it's not true I am getting f+#/ing **** off with Burnley buying our best players - he is a Scottish international midfielder, all action and scores loads of goals and has been Derby's player of the year for last two seasons so tell Burnley to f#+k off

Pose as a Burnley fan then - capowww!!!! Back to Rovers. Agree with your own posts, like them, disagree with yourself and then, at the end of another long online day, think about how amazingly clever and brilliant you never were. I must say its not good when our neighbours down the road dominate the column space again, I suppose they do it on club size. The one that more are interested in gets the column inches.
Have we signed anybody yet or have we tried to unsettle someone thinking the pull of the PL will snare them.
This might work, I suggest we table a 250k bid for Messi and 100K for Ronaldo, when they find out that it would mean a move to the moo camp, they'd be on it like a flash

We've bid for Troy Deeney this morning, seeing as you are interested.

And it is funny to see you scratching around in the bargain bucket of transfers this season because you are being forced to use your transfer budget to pay off your rubbish squad players.

Blackburn - helping players retire rich since 1992.

A once-only offer form Rovers. The previous 81 years didn't really offer such a chance, did they.
