Rovers fans efforts deserve huge applause

AS the chaos and inactivity around Ewood Park continues, the buzz about the club potentially being up for sale inevitably grows and grows.

It is almost as though Rovers have been put in lockdown with board members in England in the dark about what is going on and Venky’s staff in India silenced by their bosses.

Whether this means the owners are considering a sale, I still have my doubts. But, whatever is going on, this is no way to run a club.

Venky’s have yet to state they are ‘up for sale’ but that hasn’t stopped at least two groups continuing their plans to try and rescue the flagging club.

Both have their merits in different ways and, while they have their critics, no one can argue that those behind these efforts don’t have Rovers’ best interests at heart.

The fans attempts, led by Wayne Wild, to bring the club into community ownership has been transparent from the outset.

They have told everyone what they are planning to do, what their bid would involve and why they are going to such painstaking efforts to raise the funds necessary.

The efforts of corporate finance partners Seneca Partners, led by Rovers fans Ian Battersby and Ian Currie, is undoubtedly shrouded in more secrecy but that does not make it any less worthwhile.

Dealing with stinking rich investment bankers and businessmen, the nature of the business means they have to keep things confidential and on a need to know basis.

There is no way they could nail their colours to the fans trust’s mast due to their business model.

That is not to say if Seneca’s bid ever came to fruition that there would not be a part for the fans to play. Far from it.

They would want to re-engage the community and would want to restore a management structure to the club that has so sadly been lacking under Venky’s control – or lack of it.

The two Ians are not on a power trip here. They don’t want to be seen playing at being football owners and in the boardroom ‘larging’ it up on match days.

They would bring people back to the club capable of running the it – the likes of Tom Finn and John Williams would surely be high up on their agenda – and would just look to restore some of the pride that has been lost.

It is important to say neither may work. The trust may not raise the capital needed to buy the club while Seneca might never get past the first hurdle.

But at least they are trying. The football club may have become a laughing stock in recent times but the club’s supporters have done themselves proud by showing they are not going to just sit back and let the club collapse.

There are plenty of noises being made that other suitors are ready to take the club out of Venky’s hands. But BRSIT and Seneca are the only ones to so far make their interest known.

I applaud the vision behind both.

I am sure Anuradha Desai could find a suitor from abroad ready to buy from them if she wanted but surely staying local would be best for everyone concerned.

We have seen what happens when people who have no real affinity with Rovers look to buy it. I’m not sure any of us could go through a repeat of the last 18 months.

It has to be said Venky’s might not be going anywhere. If they decide they have had enough, though, at least there are people around who care.

I will say that the Rovers will NOT be for sale at the very least for the next eighteen months at that point the parachute payments will be all but running out,the value of the club will be diminished by the sale of any player with any value and obvious the pocketing of the parachute money,Kean will be allowed to see out his contract as that would save any compensation payment to him,,i am amazed that you Andy do not see all this and scream it from the rooftops,,expose these people now,and claim the glory when it all comes to fruition,,you or i or anyone else can do anything about it,,but at least THEY will know we are aware of what they are upto,,come on Andy scream it from the rooftops.

Silence is golden, especially if you are benefiting from it. I won't hold my breath that we will get new owners. I'd say keep up the pressure, but pressure is only capable of being applied if there is something to apply it to. As we have absent owners and an absent management team, who is there to absorb any pressure.

There's only one way to sort this out, stay away for the home games and support the away games and instead of chanting "Kean out", chant "There's only one Jack Walker". Hopefully that will get the message across that the current owners and management team aren't wanted. Unfortunately the down side to this tactic is that the true heart of the club will suffer as further cut-backs are made to protect the wages and ego's of the upper echelons!

It is very sad, that life long supporters of BRFC should even have to consider staying away and not buying season tickets, but recent events (or rather lack of) gives them no choice. The very thought of attending matches and having to watch Kean's antics, is to some repulsive. Even Venky's will soon realise that no money in the coffers does their cause no favours at all. I would rather donate or even lose money than give it to the current owners of BRFC. Pure ignorant or pure arrogant which one is it?

Had the same thoughts myself for a while now.

To sell the club would require a degree of disclosure that would expose the real finances of the last 18 months.

They (kean, Andreson, Venkys) simply won't and can't let that happen.

Expect a mysterious fire shortly before the administrators are called in.

Good point and I certainly hope you are right. Well worth lobbying the FA to ensure that they go through every transaction with a fine tooth comb. A full audit could well show up a number of financial anomalies; I hope that the FA are particularly diligent and examine every transaction closely. Fingers crossed this maybe the start of the end of the Venkys, Kean and Anderson and their involvement in Blackburn Rovers Football Club.

Venky's will not leave yet. There is still money in the club to be got out. Transfer fees and parachute payments for a start and that still leaves a good ground and training facility to flog off.

Total P*sstake again from Anderson etc for the Rover's fans. You must think that the fans are that stupid that they cannot see through your money making schemes.
IMHO.
1 Buy a well run Premier League Club ( unfortunately it was BRFC)
2 Remove the existing Manager & Board & replace with a puppet administration.
3 Sell enough of the top players to recoup the initial investment.
4 Sell the rest of the top wage earners to cut down the weekly running costs of the club.
5 Pocket as much of the parachute payments as is legally (in your eyes) possible.
6 Execute an "Exit Strategy" with your ill-gotten gains.
IMHO. You are approaching Stage 6.
I think we will be rid of the most corrupt regime ever in the history of PL football, by mid season. I have given my pledge to BRSIT & I hope they will be in a position to pick up the pieces of our beloved club.
Finally to the "Cowboys & Indians". BRFC fans will never forget what you have done to OUR Club. You are all outsiders & though you have conned us, it won't be a pleasant future having to dodge Rovers fans for the rest of your lives.
P.S. What's happened to that ex Dingle Robert Coar. He's very quiet?.

Fingers crossed this maybe the start of the end of the Venkys, Kean and Anderson and their involvement in Blackburn Rovers Football Club. The tax man usually sets the ball rolling in the downfall of a corrupt regime.

Here's hoping.

Kean effectively hiring the people he should have nothing to do with whilst, from a previous post on another article, staff whose appointments the manager SHOULD influence are having to send their CVs to India.

Agnew's elevation to puppet-in-chief leaves us without a press officer or the farcically titled Director of Communication. Venkys have clearly realised any such role is superfluous.

Agnew, from arranging chairs for the press to supposedly running the club;Kevin "7th dan" Costner, from driving the "manager" around to managing the stadium. It really does beggar belief.

Apart from the obvious unhealthy influence Kean has with the owners, I am coming around to the theories being put forward that this goes deeper than the pure, total and complete incompetence of the owners.

I agree that it will be some time before the Venky's depart, awaiting transfer fees and the first, largest PP.
As to selling Ewood and Brockall, I belief there are restrictive covenents in place as to their future use, i.e. they cannot be used for property development. Presumably though, they could sell to a banker and lease them back to the club.
All in all, the appointments and lack of news, no season ticket information etc just makes matters worse.

I see the Steve Clarke is likely to be the new West Brom manager. Steve has all the right credentials to make this an excellent and well thought out appointment by West Brom. Steve has an enormous amount of experience in the Premier League including Chelsea and more recently at Liverpool. Blackburn in contrast have made a terrible decision in appointing the least qualified manager in the Premier League and it has resulted in total failure and has cost the owners millions of pounds. The Venkys really need to a grip on their investment and should disregard what Steve Kean has to say and look at the facts in the cold light of day. Steve Kean is bringing this club to it's knees and his tenure at Ewood should be terminated immediately. While other clubs are making the necessary preparations for the new season we are lumbered with this complete failure in charge and heading for the another relegation season. Paul Agnew please note.

Paul Agnew please note.[/p][/quote]Cost them millions of pounds ? Are you sure they're not up on the deal ? Yes, they've dived down a division, but they haven't lost money, they just won't be able to trouser as much. What Did I say This Time ?

It is a subsidiary of Venkys London Ltd. The ultimate holding company, owning 99.9% of the shares is Ventateshwara Hatcheries Pvt, registered in India.

It is interesting to note that amongst the small shareholders of the club, Blackburn with Darwen Council hold 250 ordinary shares. Can they use their influence to obtain a meeting with the owners?

That's what the "official" paperwork may tell us, but is that the full story?
I and many more people think otherwise. Wish it could be proved one way or the other to everybodies satisfaction.

The parachute payments are 16 million in each year for the first two years.

Then 8 million each year for the third and fourth years.

So it will be four years in total to get the full 48 million.

Hope that Venkys will be gone and we would be back in the prem well before then!

It is very frustrating and lack of communication does fuel the conspiracy theories.
The accounts, directors details etc are available to buy, for a £1 per item from Companies House.
KPMG are the company auditors and have signed the last accounts to be filed. They would not have signed them off were they not completely happy with them.
They are worth buying though.

I would have thought that the Premier League should with hold any parachute payments until a number of issues about the club are settled such as who actually owns the club. The Premier League should exercise it's responsibilities and this is an excellent leverage to persuade the Venkys to give legally binding undertakings that they will start to run the club in an orderly fashion. The payments could be either postponed or drip fed rather than giving the Venkys all the money for them to spend as they wish. The Premier League could also postpone payments until the FA have carried out a thorough assessment/audit of Blackburn Rovers.

Why would they carry out an investigation? Because we the fans ask for one..? No way will they do anything like that. It would set-up too many legal precedents.

Unless someone can expose and offer proof of illegal happenings in the running of the club then nobody will be prepared to carry out any assessment or investigation of the club. Sad but true.

Has it been established for definite that the Venky's (or anyone connected with "them") do own Brockhall, for example? This is surely a matter of pubic record and can be checked with Land Registry? As for future use of Brockhall, they would have to deal with Ribble Valley not Blackburn Council planners-not as pliable!
