BREAKING NEWS: King signs for Rovers (From Lancashire Telegraph)

Sounds like a decent buy for a nominal fee,hope it works out,better than some silly wages for an old as been.

This is fantastic news. King is blessed with genuine pace, which is something we are desperately short of, and seems to have a good work ethic. Full credit to Rovers for snapping him up even while we have no manager, before anyone else had a chance to tempt him.

Also full marks to King, for coming to us, because we've been on a stinking run, and got through two managers since he's been here, so he must have some bottle.

Excellent news. Now we need to seriously strengthen the defence and central as well as right midfield. Great start to the new year with yesterdays win and this news, but won't be long before Singh messes up again. Brilliant news!! I was so worried that he would be going back to united. Absolutely excellent player and I think he has some serious potential to be a big name player in the future. You can see his pace and his ability, he really is a great signing for us!

Back to the signing, I really like the look of this lad, I think he will be good for us, has loads of pace and looks a threat, just needs more games and a settled bunch round him.
Colin Kazim Richards, I'm not 100%convinced with, but as the displays are improving, so might he. All we really need is a decent right winger and another centre back if Givet is leaving.

I think we can be optimistic with these 2 and a couple of other additions
in midfield we should be not just okay but **** good.

Our attacking options are good and potentially we should be a good prospect to win most matches.

Givet is temperamental and can go if he likes. Lets bring in a classy defender who can slot in and give much needed stability to the back 4 and provide leadership.

There is no substitute for pace and this guy does have that attribute , also he is young at 20 yo , not a 30 something has been,good work by Venkys for once .would also like to say that Bowyer should be given at least till the end of the season, and if we make the play offs it would be a bonus after what as gone on in the last 2 yrs, it is time to back the manager and players for the next five months and forget about the politcics at the club, they will fall on thier swords eventually hoping for a good cup run also , and with Bristol city at home we have a great chance of progressing to the nxt rd and maybe a big club at ewood.

Good post and agree with most, just for me would keep Murphy looked good last few matches, i think it's just took him a while to adjust and get motivated, would love Samba back and like you say a box to box midfielder.

I am saying I have been following the Blackburn Rovers I am from India, they are growing in popularity here and we are are very proud of the Venky's and what they are doing for football in India.

I think King is a tremendous signing, I watching him when he playing for Norway very pacy winger, a ace player. I think there is talk in India that Rovers are going to sign Ronaldinho, he has bags of skills and is very famous here. But I think more than anything we need a tough tackllng central defensive player. And I also agree that we need a top rate midfield players because many of the players the Venky;s buying are too old I think and lacking pace. Perhaps James McCarthy from Wigan, or we try to bringing back Jermanine Jones from Bayern Munich?

Totally agree with Dudley Blue, Morten is definitely not past it and is one of the few players that actually tries to feed the ball to Jordan Rhodes.

I would disagree with a number of your assessments,

Grant Hanley is getting better and has carried Scott Dann this season,
Scott Dann should be replaced
Marcus Olsson is not worth a place in the squad
Goodwillie might be o.k. if we drop another division
MGP is still a useful squad member, were you watching yesterday ?

Just my opinion of course, but its based on what I see when I go to the games,

I would disagree with a number of your assessments, Grant Hanley is getting better and has carried Scott Dann this season, Scott Dann should be replaced Marcus Olsson is not worth a place in the squad Goodwillie might be o.k. if we drop another division MGP is still a useful squad member, were you watching yesterday ? Just my opinion of course, but its based on what I see when I go to the games,

Its all down to the manager to get the best out of players,, think about Sam and how fit the players were..

A manager brings motivation, organisation and yes, fitness.

To my mind, with possible exception of 93-95, when Kenny and Ray had them running on adrenaline, Rovers have never been as fit as they were under Hughes. One of my abiding memories of Sams regime was the freedom to go for a brew or a pi55 while Samba was ambling up or down the pitch between corners ;-)

I'm talking about something a little more basic that I expect from a footballer, positioning, movement, skill and attitude. I'd say Dann, Goodwillie and t'other Olsson fail on 3 out of 4 of those.

Get rid of Robinson, Dann, Dunn, Etuhu and Goodwillie. These players must be on silly money and have contributed nothing towards our season so far. Robinson is a game saver on his day but those days are few and far between now and him and Dann are prone to far too many errors.

I understand your pain mate, but we have to work with who we have. The golden era of Jack is over, and we have to be honest with ourselves that things could be a LOT LOT worse.

What if WT had failed to find a buyer and pulled the plug all of a sudden? We would have had to sell players and face administration. Venkys are not ideal by a long chalk, but they have made a commitment to stick by us and as long as they are still doing it, we have to back them when its good as well as the criticism we throw at them when its bad, or else we tarnish the name of rover supporter and only fuel more ammunition that we are the worst supporters and face being mocked and derided by everyone else.

Keep the faith. We are Rovers and we will survive.

Formica on the left wing? He shouldn't be on either wing, he hasn't got the pace and can't cross a ball. Formica's a central attacking midfielder but Kean played him out of position. He did the same with Lowe, Rochina and Kazim-Richards.

Once Nunes is fit again he should make the left-wing berth his own, provided the formation allows it of course. With King, Rochina and Nuno Gomes all capable of playing just behind Rhodes, I'd play Kazim-Richards on the right-wing, it is his natural position after all.

Samba was a big strong centre half, a lot better than what we have now and it would be great to have him back, but get real, he played for himself and was never a leader. He was a completely ineffective as a captain and it was obvious to anybody who understands the game that Ryan Nelsen was the real leader. The defence looked far more solid when Nelson was there, whoever played next to him.

Out for me would be:
Dann. A liability in most games. Distribution on Saturday was awful.
Dunn. Imagine what we could do with all those wages he currently gets for doing nothing.
Formica. Never going to be consistent enough at this or a higher level.
Robinson. Less and less of a good saver these days. More of a hesitant poor puncher instead. Never a patch on Friedel. Living on reputation only for me. I'm sure there will be better keepers out there who won't command half his wages.

Borderline ones:
Olsson. I'd only keep him if he was used as a left winger where he can cause problems and keep him there. Useless as a full-back.
Pedersen. I'd keep him for the squad and use him now and then to bring on ange change things iff neccessary, like Sat.

Wanted.
I'd love to have Nelsen back to steady the defensive ship.

Don't agree with everything in your post but it isn't bad.

I would hope that Rovers clear out the following during the window, or get them out on loan somewhere.

Robinson, Givet, Dunn and Etuhu.

Robinson was tapped up by West Ham at least 3 months ago, Givet is a moody bugger, doesn't want to know if he isn't getting his own way and Etuhu is only here for the money.

Morten Gamst Pedersen is NOT past it.

Totally agree with Dudley Blue, Morten is definitely not past it and is one of the few players that actually tries to feed the ball to Jordan Rhodes.
Been with us for years and loves the club, leave him alone!!!

I am intrigued how you have come to a loss of £57m on Sam Allardyce's transactions.

Pleased King has signed if it is a nominal fee as we are short of pace and hopefully we can develop his footballing skills as he has the the right physical attributes. Would like to see a left back who can defend,wide right midfielder with pace to get some crosses into the box for Rhodes(who is being wasted at the moment) and a Jermaine Jones type central midfielder brought in. Then clear out the excess baggage we have in the current unbalanced squad

According to the records Allardyce player trading brought in about £41m, and he spent about £24m.

Whilst this is good news i cant help but disagree with most people when they say all we need is a RM/RW, CB and a decent CM. Because its such a long season we are going to need at least 9 players... Robinson will more than likely go and to be honest i dont think most of us will be too worried, hes not looked the same for a few seasons and either he has dramatically dropped in performance or he just doesnt want to be here, either way we can sell him and whilst Kean is doing well at the moment he is still young and thus prone to errors. It could be worth seeing if Spurs would loan out Gomes and try taking a punt on him, whilst not amazing at PL level he could be a leading keeper in the Championship and something we need, plus with Friedel and Lloris he isnt getting a look in the Spurs squad any time soon.

We also need a complete new set of defenders, Henley falls under the same category of Kean, young and prone to errors ones that could seriously damage confidence and so an experienced right back should be brought in as cover and used as tutoring. In my opinion bringing back a player like Lucas Neill might not be such a bad idea however there are plenty of choices out there.

Two CB's, Dann and Hanley both struggle at times and whilst it is obvious that they both try the partnership between the two isnt as strong as we would have hoped and is one of the main causes for concern. Both of them like to attack corners and leave us exposed at the back to a counter attack and we need someone who can utilize there experience and command the area e.g a Nelsen-esque type player, Samba and Nelsen were both players that Hughes signed for very little money and if we can find a manager with a keen sense of player knowledge this could easily be achieved. Olsson just needs some cover in case he gets injured.

LM. Whilst we have signed King if Pedersen is going and it looks likely we need to find someone to cover that position, i dont think fake Olsson is good enough nor do i rate Fabio Nunes from what i have seen of him, although i think it would be a mistake to lose Pedersen after the many great years he has had here. He still has something to bring to the team and seems to be the only one able to beat the first man from a corner and a free kick.

Murphy and Etuhu, where can i start with these players - brought in by Kean to dominate the Championship midfield with their already built partnership and failed to live up to the hype. They enjoy passing to each other and passing back down the park but offer very little in creativity and attacking play. (Football Manager says Murphy excels in an attacking role, it lies!) and Murphy at his age is prone to niggles, instant replacement for these two is required and ship them back out to Fulham since they didnt want to lose them. Jason Lowe is also out of position and looks hapless sometimes in that position and as for Dunn well his playing days are over for us, either he moves on or Venkys should just pay him off and utilize him as a coach asap.

RM whilst we have 4 players who we could play in this position (Kaz, Rochina, Formica and Vukcevic) we either need to play one of them consistently or sell a couple and sign someone. I like most people would like to see Vukcevic given his chance a little more often and with a little bit of coaching he could become a really efficient and deadly midfielder if like Rochina he was advised to pass a little more and make some overlapping runs.

No, losing is not having a single response to come back with, despite being given numerous chances.
