A BRAVE little boy with a debilitating disease has seen a dream realised after stepping out with the Accrington Stanley team at the Crown Ground.

Robin Carter, five, who has a form of cerebral palsy, led the Stanley players on to the pitch and helped inspire them to their 1-0 win over Torquay on Saturday.

The Earby youngster, who relies on a crocodile frame to get around, is set to undergo a life-changing operation in Missouri, America, on May 16.

Last year, his family set up the ‘robinSDReams’ campaign to raise £45,000 to pay for the surgery, which targets nerves which cause spasms.

Robin also joined his mum Natalie to ask fans to donate.

Natalie said: “He absolutely loved it. It was the best thing he’s ever done. He felt like he was famous.

“He was at practice before the match and all the lads were brilliant with him. They gave him a ball and he has not stopped looking at it.”

Natalie said £20,000 had been raised so far. The next fundraiser will be a race night at the Station Hotel, Nelson, at 7pm on Saturday.
