LINCOLN City are still understood to be considering an approach for Accrington Stanley duo John Coleman and Jimmy Bell – but Reds chief executive Rob Heys has told them they would be wasting their time after the pair agreed new long-term contracts at the Crown Ground.

Coleman and Bell agreed new deals until 2015 this week after being put top of Lincoln’s wanted list, but the contracts are not due to be signed until Monday at the earliest and the Imps are debating whether to make an approach before pen is put to paper.

Regardless of whether the contracts are signed or not, Lincoln have said paying compensation would not be a problem as they search for a new boss but Heys has insisted that the new deals have signalled the end of any possibility of Coleman and Bell moving to Sincil Bank.

“I think now we have the improved offer in, as far as we’re concerned that is the end of it,” said the Stanley chief executive.

“John and Jimmy have indicated to us that they are very happy here, so Lincoln would very much be wasting their time.

“John is just having the contract checked with the LMA. They are due to come back to him on Monday. “It is a standard manager's contract so we don't expect any problems.”

Stanley look set to receive a fine after accepting an FA charge of failing to ensure their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during a fracas at the end of last weekend’s 7-4 win over Gillingham.
