ACCRINGTON Stanley are likely to lose out on striker Craig Lindfield because of an FA embargo limiting them to 20 senior players.

Stanley have been decimated by injuries in recent weeks and manager John Coleman is keen to strengthen his squad.

Lindfield is eager to rejoin the club after a loan last season, while Ross Lloyd and Louis Melo are currently on trial.

But the FA are restricting the club to 20 senior players, a ruling which is understood to be in connection to Stanley’s financial problems in the summer.

The Reds signed Tom Lees on loan from Leeds last week, but only after they had sold Paul Mullin to Morecambe.

“We can’t sign anyone at the moment,” said boss John Coleman.

“We can’t register anyone, that’s the problem. Even if we get players for free we can’t register them.”

Lindfield – released by Liverpool last month – has impressed on trial with Carlisle and may not be able to wait much longer to join.
