ACCRINGTON Stanley players, management and all the staff at the Crown Ground will work for free at tomorrow night’s home game against Darlington to aid the fight to save the historic club.
The move, which will save the club £4,000, comes as the Reds desperately try to raise £308,000 to fight off a winding up order from the taxman.
It comes after the coffers were swelled by Tuesday’s friendly against Burnley at Turf Moor, attended by 5,300 fans.
Club chief executive Rob Heys said around £30,000 has already been raised.
Mr Heys said: “All of the players and staff have made a fantastic gesture to save us money at the Darlington game.
“The stewards came to us and offered to work for free and the idea was taken on by all at the club. Everyone will donate a day’s pay to the fund.”
Around 100 people work for the club on a matchday.
