KEVIN McIntyre looks set to join John Coleman at Rochdale after Accrington Stanley were unable to tie him to a new deal at the club.
The 34-year-old’s contract expires this summer but the Reds had offered him new terms in a bid to keep him at the Crown Ground.
McIntyre had told the Lancashire Telegraph that he was happy to stay at Stanley but a contract offer from Rochdale, and former Reds boss John Coleman, has changed the situation.
It is understood that talks have now ended with Stanley and it looks likely that the left back will move to Spotland to link up once more with the manager who brought him to Accrington last summer.
The futures of Sean Hessey, Bryan Hughes, Charlie Barnett and Will Hatfield, who have been offered new deals with Stanley, remain unresolved.
Rochdale, however, are also thought to be interested in Dean Winnard, although the defender still has a year left on his Reds contract and Stanley will be keen to keep him at the club.
Coleman was unable to move for Stanley players in January, as part of the clause in the compensation deal to take him to Rochdale.
But that clause has now expired and the former Reds boss will hope to convince players that Dale have greater prospects of promotion than Stanley.
The Greater Manchester club are also likely to have a greater budget despite relegation from League One.
Ian Craney, recently released by Stanley, and ex-Red Michael Symes are others who could move to Dale.
Symes spent the end of the season on loan at Spotland but has now been released by Bournemouth.
Fellow former Stanley players Phil Edwards, Kevin Long and Sean McConville had spells with Rochdale at the end of the campaign.
n Toto Nsiala, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Stanley, is leaving Everton at the end of his contract.
