AARON Chapman has declared himself fully fit for Stanley's trip to Colchester on Saturday.

The Reds goalkeeper was involved in a car crash on his way to the Easter Monday win over Notts County.

The Stanley stopper crashed in bad weather on the M1 and subsequently went to hospital and admits he was fortunate not to suffer serious injury.

He missed the win over the Magpies with Jonny Maxted coming in for his Reds debut and keeping a clean sheet in the 1-0 success.

But Chapman, who trained for the first time since the accident on Thursday, is determined to reclaim his place in the side having walked away from the crash with just a grazed finger.

Of the crash he said: "It wasn't the best experience, it was scary and you don't expect it to happen, especially on the way to the game but fortunately no marks, well only a little one.

"I was on my own and it was snowing near me and my car just started sliding. I was in the middle lane and went across the slow lane and hit the barrier and as soon as I hit the barrier I thought to myself that's not too bad, I am alright, then I just head a horn and the lorry hitting my door.

"Everything happened so fast.

"The police came and made sure I was okay and then they looked round and asked 'how have you walked from that?'

"Apparently they had five or six cars like mine that morning where the same thing had happened.

"Someone up there was looking after me and I live to fight another day."

The keeper was forced to watch news of Stanley's victory over Notts County at home with Mark Hughes' early winner keeping the Reds three points clear at the top of the table.

A win over Colchester tomorrow and promotion rivals Exeter next weekend will ensure promotion for Stanley and Chapman wants to play his part in the run-in although he acknowledges he has a tough task to depose Maxted who performed well in his first Football League appearance.

“Jonny was unbelievable,” said Chapman. “I was desperate to play and even tried to get a taxi to the game but I am pleased for Jonny and it shows the competition we have for places.”

Chapman's return means Reds boss John Coleman has a fully fit squad to choose from for the trip to the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
