JOHN Coleman is aiming to finalise plans for his eight existing loan signings today, with a view to going back into the market to strengthen his squad during the January transfer window.

The Stanley boss added goalkeeper Max Stryjek from Sunderland, Derby defender Farrend Rawson, Middlesbrough's Callum Johnson, Brighton duo Tyler Forbes and Tom Dallison, Hull forward Jonny Edwards , Jordan Thorniley from Sheffield Wednesday and striker Mallik Wilks from Leeds in the first half of the season, with all bar Stryjek and Edwards coming to the end of their initial deals.

It is possible that a number of those players could return to their parent clubs this month, or move elsewhere, giving Coleman scope to bring in more new faces and bolster their promotion push.

“Most of the loan deals were up in January and I will finalise it (today)," Coleman confirmed.

"We will then try and get a few in – maybe three, four or five depending.

“We know what we have got to do and we will do our best.”

But with only five loan players permitted in a matchday squad, Coleman says he has learnt from last season, when he felt he made too many loan additions.

“That hamstrung us to be honest, having so many. I won’t make that mistake again," he said.

"I thought I could convert a couple easily into permanent deals but it didn’t happen due to the players or the club. I will learn from this."

Of using the loan market, Coleman added: “It isn’t easy, it’s always a risk, as you don’t always know whether they can cope with this type of football, this type of environment or whether they buy into the ethos of the club."
