JOHN Coleman hopes away days can continue to be good days for Accrington Stanley.

The Reds have been impressive on the road this season, picking up 14 points from a possible 24 - including wins at promotion chasing Bristol Rovers and Leyton Orient and a creditable point at Portsmouth.

Stanley were dominant at leaders Plymouth last month but the result did not reflect the performance as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat.

But otherwise Coleman has been pleased with the progress on their travels.

“When you get used to a certain way of doing things players get a little bit of comfort in routine, and if they see that routine’s working they’re generally more likely to buy into it,” said the Stanley boss.

“You always try to manage the players and try to make them feel at ease in what they’re doing.

“On the road this year we’ve been quite good, although ironically we ended up taking no points out of our best performance.

"You don’t always get what you deserve. But if you keep playing well you’re going to get the points that you want, and we have been playing well away from home.”

There has been a change of management at this afternoon’s opponents Cambridge, with Richard Money replaced by former Notts County boss Shaun Derry following a run of five defeats from their previous nine games, on the back of just three wins in the second half of last season after their FA Cup fourth round replay exit at Manchester United in February.

“It’s difficult because they’ve labelled Richard Money’s demise on what went on last season as well. They’ve looked at it over a period of about 40 games,” said Coleman.

“After they went to Manchester United they found it difficult. They wouldn’t be the first team that happens to.

“You’ve got to feel for them, as you feel for anyone who loses their job in our league, or in any walk of life to be honest.

“But they’ve got good players and it will be a difficult game.

“Every game you play is going to be difficult. It sounds as though you’re trotting out the old clichés and you’re trying to protect yourself by saying it will be a tough game if things go wrong for you, but there is no easy game in our league. Anyone is capable of beating anyone.”
