Grella set for Rovers exit
6:00pm Wednesday 4th April 2012 in Football
VINCE Grella expects to return to Italy for next season after admitting his Blackburn Rovers career will be over this summer.
The injury-prone Australian has not featured for Rovers since September due to injury and, with his contract expiring in the summer, Grella knows his Ewood adventure is over.
He told Tuttosport: “I will be released in June, next year I wil return to play in Italy.”
Grella has only played 45 times for Rovers since being signed by Paul Ince from Torino in 2008.

Also wonder at the criminal shortsightedness and or ignorance of our owners....
How can they let us struggle for survival in the prem when we have had so many good experienced players available but not playing because it will cost them a few grand extra in salary and bonuses?
Grella, Salgado, Nelson, Emerton, Samba, and maybe also the same with Rochina and Riberio....all either not here or not playing because of this small minded fiscal stupidity.
If we get relegated (we wont) then it is clear that their penny pinching actions will be the sole cause of our demise...

Grella going "anywhere" is good news, of course....but the thought of some of these players possibly having their minds on next season,s contract and being elsewhere, is not good news !!
Blackburn Rovers seems to be heading towards being a squad of "up & coming" players on average and below average wages....and the better then average players eventually traded for a healthy profit.
Likely outcome being a average team, self financed by profitable trading, with the signing of the odd short-term loan players who,s carreer needs resurrecting.... when the balance sheet allows, of course !!

This was always their agenda right from day one.
The days of the 'regular squad' are now a thing of the past, this coming and going of players is the norm. now .
Its basically 'trading', and has very little to to with 'sporting entertainment'.
And far less to do with the supporters.
I think that in the next 5 weeks or so there will not be a single optomist left who still thinks that Venkys can yet come good.

I remember us drawing away in an FA Cup Tie with forest when we should have won and beating them in the replay at Ewood - what year was that? . Yep it was John Radford and he was an Arsenal great but him and Scottish International legend Joe Craig got us relegated! . Also in our darkest days as we faced relegation to Div 3 or where in Div 3 who was that blond fat center half we signed who was slower then a snail? . 33rd........Morst The 88th Min Heartbreaker of Dingles! wrote:Joe Craig will never be forgotten for the thunderous strike against Nottingham Forest, at their place, which put us 1 up against the European Champions.Bazzer wrote:Sent some shivers down my spine there Bazzer! The pity is Grella did actually look a decent player when he managed a few games but alas a few it was.Dchampy wrote:Worst deals? How about Martin Britt? Les Chappell? Alan Gilliver? John O'Mara? The worst player ever to wear a Rovers shirt in terms of money wasted on him and what he has given in return. £6M over 4 years in wages and £4M transfer fee.Kevin Davies would give him a run for his money. . . . and how about Scott Dann? A shocking waste of money.

I'd argue there have been plenty of similar wastes of money (these compete with Grella: Grabbi / Kevin Davies....) but he was a classic and very poor Ince signing. See: Keith Andrews / Robbie Fowler......
This man has just seen Rovers as a meal ticket to milk and has consistently feigned injury throughout the duration of his 4 year contract.

Graham Hawkins?
At his time at Rovers Graham did a great job for us, and was very well liked.
That third division title campaign the most memorable.
