BLACKBURN Rovers again drew at Wigan Athletic yesterday – but the reserve match between the two sides proved rather less eventful than Saturday’s Premier League clash.

Rovers’ first team drew 3-3 at the DW Stadium on Saturday in a game that saw controversy and a last-minute equaliser secured thanks to a penalty won by keeper Paul Robinson.

But the two clubs met again yesterday afternoon in the Premier Reserve League at Robin Park and the match ended goalless.

Mark Bunn saved well to deny Wigan’s Ryan Watson early on before Robbie Cotton saw his effort kept out by Nicholls at the other end. Bunn then had to save superbly once more for Rovers, and Wigan came even closer at the start of the second half when Callum Morris hit the post when he looked set to score.

Rovers forward Jordan Slew lashed an effort over the bar after good work from substitute Osayamen Osawe, with Anthony O’Connor later seeing a near post header saved.

Josh Morris also fired a free kick over the crossbar, but Gary Bowyer’s side could not break the deadlock as the game finished all square.
