STEVE Wilkes came back to haunt Padiham as his new-look Ashton Athletic side won 2-1 to ensure another early exit from the FA Cup.

The former Storkes manager saw his current club take the lead when Lee Barrett opening the scoring on 15 minutes.

While the 1-0 scoreline was not too big a hurdle to overcome, Padiham never showed the cutting edge to get back in the game.

Daniel White put the tie beyond Padiham’s reach in 85th minute goal and although Storks captain Martin Parkes headed one back on 87 minutes Ashton hung on to clinch victory.
