FORMER Burscough manager Derek Goulding has emerged as the early favourite to take charge of managerless Chorley.

The Magpies were left reeling earlier this week when Shaun Teale quit as manager following Tuesday night's 3-0 drubbing at Clitheroe.

Teale's assistant, Ray Stafford, has stayed on to take temporary charge for tomorrow's game at Shepshed Dynamo, and Monday's home match with Ossett Albion.

But the Magpies, who are without a point after back-to-back defeats in the opening week, are seeking to appoint a permanent successor and their former player, Goulding, would appear to fit the bill having parted company with Burscough last season.
