PASCAL Chimbonda is happy to remain at Blackburn Rovers this summer and will not put in a transfer request, according to his agent.

Chimbonda joined Rovers on a two-year deal last August but started only one game in the final three months of the season, leading to speculation that he could be surplus to requirements at Ewood Park.

The 30-year-old defender has switched clubs five times in the past five years and famously handed in a transfer request in the dressing room, within minutes of the end of the final game of the season, during his solitary season with Wigan Athletic.

But Chimbonda’s agent Willie McKay says the Frenchman has no plans to force a move away from Rovers and will instead battle to get back into the team.

Asked if his client would put in a transfer request this summer, McKay said: “No, he’s quite happy there.”

Chimbonda, primarily a right back but capable of playing all across the back four, came into the team on the left-hand side of the defence at the start of the 2009/10 campaign after signing from Tottenham Hotspur for £2m just before the transfer window closed at the end of August.

The high point of his season came when he charged forward to score Rovers’ third goal in their 3-2 derby win over Burnley at Ewood Park.
