PLANS to redevelop Turf Moor are back on the table following Burnley’s promotion to the Premier League.

Club director Brendan Flood has also pledged £2million to rejuvenate the club’s training ground at Gawthorpe, Padiham, within the next year.

Plans for a £20million redevelopment of Turf Moor were mothballed during the season as fears mounted over the impact of the recession.

But with the club’s return to the top flight of English football, Mr Flood, who owns Manchester property firm Modus, said the £60million windfall associated with promotion would be put to good use.

He said: “We have a long-term plan for Turf Moor but work won’t start for the next two or three years.

“Work at Gawthorpe would rank ahead of the redevelopment of Turf Moor and we would like to prioritise that.

“The money from promotion will enable us to do that. The training ground will cost £2million to redevelop.”

Under plans for the Gawthorpe training ground, a state-of-the-art youth academy would be constructed in a bid to improve the club’s youth system.

Other cosmetic changes could be made to improve facilities at Gawthorpe.

Before the Premier League kicks off in August, the club will have to spend around £1million improving the media facilities at Turf Moor and bringing other elements in line with FA requirements.

Mr Flood said he would like to refurbish the ground’s changing rooms but no plans had been finalised on that front.

He added: “The £60million would be over three years and include parachute payments, but I fully intend for us to stay in the Premier League.

“The initial budget is £32million and that is what we are working to.

“We would be foolish not to support the manager in the transfer market and we will spend that money how he sees fit.

"We have to bring in players that are right for the club.”
