Every Cloud has a Silver Lining, or so they say, and maybe this week following our defeat at Old Trafford, the upside is that people might finally stop talking about Mark Hughes as Fergie's successor at the Theatre of One Sided Referees, sorry Dreams.

Sometimes I am guilty of being a little bit cynical, you know, the media hates us, Steve McClaren hates us, the Premier League deliberately gave Mark Hughes the Manager of the Month award to curse us before our game with United, that sort of thing.

However this time, as much as I hate seeing Rovers lose, perhaps the upside of this weekends result is that it will keep the inevitable but predictable, nay boring, headlines of Hughes to Manchester away for a little while, because you like me must be totally sick of hearing about it.

Another positive is that we fans are now going into each and every game genuinely thinking we can get something.

For half a game, pre referee intervention we maybe could have got something at Old Trafford and we deserved all three points against one of the most overrated Liverpool sides I have seen for years.

A look at the upcoing fixtures shows that Rovers have a very good opportunity to grab all three points in all of the next five games, and if we do we should be very nicely set up for the second half of the season, where Sparky comes into his own during the January sales.

Of all the United Old Boys tipped to take over at Old Trafford, I would like to pledge my support for Steve Bruce.

Like Fergie he is an expert moaner and as he reminded us during the Robbie Savage Transfer Saga, Birmingham are one of the world's biggest clubs, so his experience at St Andrews will stand him in great stead!

Mark who?
