ASHLEY Barnes could become Burnley's next international with Austria coach Franco Foda admitting he's watching the Clarets striker.
Barnes was born in Bath but qualifies for Austria through his grandmother and made one Under-20 appearance for the country back in 2008.
The 28-year-old is up to 15 Premier League goals after his strike against Southampton last weekend and Austria coach Foda said he would run the rule over Barnes in person at Burnley's game at West Ham next weekend.
But Foda's assistant coaches Thomas Kristl and Imre Szabics have already watched Barnes and that could lead to a call-up for Austria's friendlies with Slovenia and Luxembourg later this month.
"We are monitoring Ashley Barnes," Foda told Austrian news agency APA. "I will also watch him live in action next week. We'll have the sporting quality, and that will be crucial to make the next steps."
