SEAN Dyche expects Michael Keane to get a 'very good reception' on his first return to Turf Moor this weekend.

Keane is back at Burnley having moved to Everton for a club-record £30million fee in the summer.

The 25-year-old made 108 appearances for the Clarets in his three years at Turf Moor and his rise included winning his first two England caps while at the club.

Keane's move to Merseyside secured Burnley a huge profit on the £2million they paid Manchester United for his services and his move to Goodison Park came with no acrimony from Clarets fans.

Ahead of his return to East Lancashire this weekend, Dyche said: "I would be amazed if he got anything but a very good reception.

"He was a fine player for Burnley Football Club and was good not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well, with the way he conducted himself, how he was around the group and the supporters and the club at large.

"We will enjoy having him back for a fleeting day. He was terrific for us."

Keane's first season with the Toffees hasn't gone as smoothly, with Everton down in ninth in the table and the England international suffering an injury-hit campaign that has seen him in and out of the side.

But he has had a run of games recently under Sam Allardyce and his former boss Dyche has backed Keane to work out as a success at Everton.

“It’s a strange one. There’s a few question marks to suggest he wasn’t wanted there but he has just played eight out of the last 10 so he seems to be getting on with his football,” Dyche said.

“Keano over time his performances will be correct, and I think Everton will come out of softer period and be strong again.

“It’s a big change of format, change of system, change of the way of playing for him.

“They have spent lots of money but it’s still a team in transition. You still have to mould those player into a new group and an effective group. It can be difficult for the individual and team.

“There is a team of very good players there, and I think Michael is one of them. Over time they will be a productive side.”
