JACK Payne believes there is definitely room for him and Bradley Dack in the Rovers starting line-up and feels the two could complement each other well.

Payne has been one of the standout figures in League One so far this season, scoring seven times and registering nine assists in the first half of the campaign while at Oxford United.

Dack meanwhile has been in superb form for Rovers of late, scoring 10 goals and been a key part of the 15 game unbeaten run in which Rovers are on.

Both would prefer to operate in the number 10 role behind the central striker, but when asked if they could play together, 23-year-old Payne said: “Definitely.

“Our kind of players like playing with each other, we link up well and I can play off the right, the left and in the middle.

“The managers likes to give his players freedom so there are plenty of positions that I can play.

“He has spoken to me about where he sees me. He wants me to get on the ball and I will get my opportunities so I just have to be patient and make sure I take it when I do.”
Payne was recalled by parent club Huddersfield Town from Oxford before being loaned to Rovers where he will stay for the remainder of the campaign.

And he admits he can see why Rovers are riding high in the division.

He added: “The better the quality the better your quality becomes.

“I feel that I can step up to the level and do that but I have noticed the quality straight away.

“There are some quality individuals here, the training has been good and training has been good so hopefully I can step up.

“There’s a reason they’re at the top end of the table.

“The training has been good and makes you a better position so it was definitely the right move.”

Payne is expected to be in the squad for the trip to Fleetwood Town which will come at the end of a busy week for the left-footer.

“It’s been a bit hectic but exciting for me,” he reflected.

“It’s been good to get down here, get used to the surroundings so so far so good.

“It hasn’t been boiling for a while, I heard about the interest last week and then it all happened over the weekend.

“I’m excited to be here and looking forward to get started.”
