MATCH of the Day pundit Kevin Kilbane hailed Sam Vokes' 'brilliant' performance against West Brom as he scored twice in Burnley's 2-2 draw with the Baggies.

Kilbane and Danny Murphy discussed the Turf Moor draw which all but guaranteed the Clarets' Premier League safety, and despite the sides sharing four goals the game was shown fifth of six games on Saturday's show.

But Kilbane was effusive in his praise of Vokes' two-goal performance.

"Sean Dyche has done a great job. He played both Sam Vokes and Ashley Barnes up front last week against Crystal Palace and he did the same thing today," the former Sunderland winger said.

"It certainly worked for them. The way they play, people would think with having those two up front they would be a very direct side and they have got that option, but they do get it into wide areas and get crosses into the penalty area as well.

"It's brilliant from (referee) Mike Jones to play advantage and give Sam Vokes the goal because it was a clear penalty, you can see the assistant referee flagging, so that's great refereeing.

"It was good movement from Vokes getting across his man at the near post, as he did here (in the first half). He gets into a goalscoring position and he's full of confidence at the moment.

"That's a great ball from Robbie Brady put into a difficult area (for the second goal). He (Vokes) was probably just offside, the assistant just missed out on that one, but it was such a good ball, it was a difficult one and you see the goalkeeper coming into an area where he couldn't quite get there.

"It was a brilliant performance from Sam Vokes."

Phil Neville and Martin Keown also discussed Burnley on Match of the Day 2, with Neville pushing Dyche's claims for the manager of the year award.

"If you did a top three of managers of the year I think he'd be in the top three without a shadow of a doubt," he said. "It's an unbelievably achievement for Burnley to stay in the Premier League."
