BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche is optimistic that Kieran Trippier’s ankle injury is not as bad as first feared after the full back was stretchered off during the 2-2 draw at Leicester City.

Trippier looked in agony as he was taken off late in the game at the King Power Stadium, after his right ankle took the brunt of a late challenge from Jeff Schlupp.

But the defender was able to limp out of the stadium unaided after the game and Dyche says his injury will now be assessed.

Asked how serious the injury was, the Burnley boss said: “We’re not sure yet.

“We’re pretty confident it’s not as bad as it looks coming off on a stretcher, but that was a precautionary thing.

“We’re not sure as regards the damage.”
