Luke Varney has confirmed he will sign for Blackburn Rovers once his Leeds United contract runs out on June 30.

Free agent Varney, who spent the final three months of the campaign at Rovers, said: “The gaffer’s said it will be a clean slate for me next season and that’s what you want to hear.”

Bad move GB, this guy is a journeyman footballer, with no pace no skill, no nothing, he is living off a goal he scored for Blackpool in the Premier League which Prince William voted as his favourite goal of the season. Be better to get a young striker from a top 8 premier league club who needs competetive football.

GB has tried him out on loan and wants him as a squad player, I don't have a problem with that because we can't afford a team of superstars now because of FFP, only the top PL teams can do that.

I can live with that;

And how stupid is FFP in it's current form?

A hanger-on, someone who follows but does not contribute, you see any hypocrisy in your post there Darener ? :-)

Or are you back on board now ?

Clearly not one for the long term/future and may not get many games, but still a very good squad player who has bags of experience in this division and sound cover.

A case of hoist by your own petard if there ever was one, at least Etuhu contributed a couple of hours on the pitch last season, some so called supporters couldn't be arsed.

Sign him up, sign him up, sign him up!

Another over aged, overpaid, under-talented League One cling-on joining the ranks of possibly the poorest and most uninterested squad of players in the Championship. Zero goals in 12 games says it all. Here for the money.

Another managerial master-stroke from Agent B.

What a shambles.

Interesting train of thought. Could be considered hypocrisy, but my absence was caused by the owners reluctance to apologise for their cretinous behaviour. I was not prepared to forgive and forget without an apology to all fans. Having read their latest missive I may be prepared to start attending matches next season. How good is that of me? That could be at least one more back in the fold. Don't thank me all at once.

He certainly knows what side his bread is buttered on.

Great club.
Great training facilities.
Great at part of the world to live.

No wonder players and managers want to be part of BRFC

However

If you think its a level playing you are totally disillusioned because if a certain Jordan Rhodes is still with us he will certainly not be judged on the same level as the rest of you.

Time and again last season when he should have been substituted he was not. Many players were taken off instead of JR I would ask a number of players if I were you.

He will need to shape a lot better next season then. GB can't leave Gestede or Rhodes out for him. Thought he was very poor in everything he did last season and made no impact what so ever. Another waste of a wage for me.

I don't know why people above are slating Varney's quality on the pitch? Obviously haven't been watching properly (or at all) in games. The guy works at 110% all the time he is on the pitch and for someone who is 5ft 11, he wins nearly every ball in the air, which is impressive, especially if we use him as a target man (as we did in games where we played him). He was used out wide and it worked... Not a top class football player, but definitely a squad player for us.
