Dyche: Clarets signings may not arrive until pre-season

SEAN Dyche says his recruitment drive has been non-stop, but he admits there is unlikely to be much movement in the transfer market until pre-season approaches.

The Clarets had already begun re-shaping their squad this time last year, with goalkeeper Tom Heaton becoming Dyche’s first permanent signing at Turf Moor last May, as the club overhauled its goalkeeping department following the departures of Lee Grant and long-serving stopper Brian Jensen.

But while Burnley have benefited from the early guarantee of Premier League football next season through automatic promotion, as opposed to the uncertainty of the play-offs five years ago, boss Dyche is not anticipating early transfer activity.

However, he has assured supporters that the process of earmarking targets is a daily work in progress as he bids to bolster his squad for the top flight.

“It’s fair to say we’ve made loads and loads of phone calls as we have been doing during the course of the season, looking at player trading and possibly getting quality into the building because we know we’re going to need that to firm up the squad moving forwards,” said the 42-year-old, who has been linked with a move for Watford striker Troy Deeney, who he worked with at Vicarage Road.

MORE TOP STORIES:

“Nothing’s changed in my feelings on player trading in that it’s not just about us, all parties have to agree – agents, players, the opposition club, ourselves having the financial prowess to get deals over the line.

“It can come in many ways. Some, possibly, could happen immediately, but it’s unusual if you look across the market, most deals take a longer period of time because everyone’s vying for the best position – the selling club, the buying club, the agent, the player. They’re all seeing what’s out there, so usually it happens in the latter part of the close season before pre-season.

“But the number of phonecalls is incredible already to make sure we’re in the hat for the right ones.

“If the right player aligns and the club want to do a deal then we’ll be ready, that’s for sure.”

Personally I never found Joan Rivers funny anyway.

Looks like Dyche is starting to lose his Howe inherited momentum. Future turmoil beckons.

I agree. Rovers are far funnier than Joan Rivers. Hilarious actually. Tragic comedy. And that always has a casualty - you for example.

Your Momentum theory. Now that's a solid belly-laugh too. I think you found it in your boll~ocks bin. You know the one - its where you got your Ings Under 21 transfer rubbish.

Under Howe, Burnley finished 13th. Under Dyche its 11th and 2nd respectively. Goodness me, you are thick.

You agree with what? There's no connection you c0ckjockey.

To be fair on 'Rivers' fans, they did compete with the likes of Man Utd and in fact beat them by winning the top honor in the land. So I can understand why they considered them to be rivals as they were the closest competition in the country. I guess it would be stupid for Burnley to do the same, it being the case that we won't compete at any meaningful level and sooner or later we will be relegated with the consequent restructuring. What a futile achievement promotion was.

Blackburn Rovers 1 - 2 Burnley.

Burnley in the Premier League, £120million to the good.

Blackburn fans crying inside as FFP winds up to deliver a financial piledriver.

The turmoil is all yours Mungo. I'll leave you to your bitterness and shame with these three words.....

STAYING.
DOWN.
FOREVER.

Let's not stoop to their arrogance (can you STOOP to arrogance - sounds a bit like a contradiction in terms I suppose). Anyway, don't do it.[/p]
Personally I never found Joan Rivers funny anyway. Looks like Dyche is starting to lose his Howe inherited momentum. Future turmoil beckons.[/p]
Loser.[/p]
Future turmoil beckons............. ....[/p]
Blackburn Rovers 1 - 2 Burnley. Burnley in the Premier League, £120million to the good. Personally I never found Joan Rivers funny anyway.

Looks like Dyche is starting to lose his Howe inherited momentum. Future turmoil beckons.
I know Tom, it's shocking to think that only yourself and I understand the shambles this is turning into.

That's unutterably sad. He clearly uses this forum as an outlet for his psychiatric problems. Might I suggest you don't engage with him under any of his guises (Anotherpounding, Ewoodlegend, TTT etc) so he goes and seeks professional help? If he's already receiving it, he's being let down by the service and wants to look for a different CPN.
