LONG-serving Claret Michael Duff is to be rewarded for his part in Burnley's promotion season with the offer of a new 12-month deal, taking the defender into his 11th season at Turf Moor.

Junior Stanislas is also understood to have been offered new terms, along with Danny Lafferty.

But Keith Treacy, David Edgar, Brian Stock and third-choice goalkeeper Nick Liversedge have been released from the club at the end of their contracts.

Edgar is the longest serving of the exiting trio, having signed under Owen Coyle from Newcastle United ahead of Burnley's last Premier League season in 2009.

The Canada international had a 12-month option on his current deal but the Clarets have decided not to take it up.

Stock has ended two years with the Clarets.

The midfielder was signed by Eddie Howe from Doncaster Rovers in 2011 in a deal worth around £100,000, reuniting the former Bournemouth team-mates.

He made 29 appearances in his first season, but became more of a squad player this term, playing in 13 league and cup games.

Treacy was also signed by Howe, from Preston, but was given a new lease of life with the change of manager in October 2012.

However, the Republic of Ireland international winger has not been offered new terms. He has, though, been offered the chance to return on trial in the summer.

Liversedge was a summer signing from Whitby Town after impressing on trial in the previous campaign.

Young right back Luke O'Neill is thought to have had a one-year option activated.

Rovers should snap up all these Burnley stars surplus to requirements. After all if they played for the best team in the world, they must be fantastic.

Keep coming back now Mungo , I'll be waiting for your explanation of why Bowyer was tactically outclassed in your opening game by the mighty Brentford.

KEEP LOOKING UP!

it seems to me you have little choice, when the reality hits home halfway through the season that your team is out of their depth only then will you rejects realise it was merely a flash in the pan,now take Blackburn Rovers for instance we are building for the long term starting next season when we will show you how to attain greatness and keep hold of it,COYB Blackburn Rovers the only club to put east Lancashire on the football world stage for all the world to see and admire, we are just having a bit of quality time away from the media glare while we prepare for an all out assault on the championship next season,,the Ewood Empire is alive and well.
