Beattie delighted with Reds progress

Lancashire Telegraph: James Beattie James Beattie

ACCRINGTON Stanley boss James Beattie believes the weekend draw with play-off chasing Plymouth Argyle shows how far his side has come this season.

Tom Aldred’s late header cancelled out Reuben Reid’s first half goal to extend Stanley’s unbeaten home run to five matches – although the Reds slipped a place to 16th in the table.

And Beattie was pleased with his side’s showing. The Stanley boss said: “Plymouth are on a great run and in the play-offs and in the end I think it was a well-earned point.

“The lads showed tremendous character and resilience and I'm really happy.

“They’re a bit disappointed, which shows you how far we’ve come because Plymouth are on a great run.

“Everybody has progressed. I have as a manager and I have got a great team around me.

“In the end I am delighted with a point.

“We changed the formation in the second half and from the word go in the second half I thought we were a threat to their goal.”

Tough game played in bad conditions but that finish by Tom Aldred was well worth waiting an hour for - well deserved point for the Stanley boys, Dagenham here we come!

Tough game on a heavy pitch but after confidence boosting results just lately the reds no longer fold when they go behind. One old chap coming off said 'thats the best I've ever seen Accy play' - so come again and bring some mates!
