Team news: Nottingham Forest v Blackburn Rovers

BLACKBURN Rovers will be without goalkeeper Paul Robinson for today’s Championship clash at play-off rivals Nottingham Forest – while top scorer Jordan Rhodes is deemed only fit enough for a place on the bench.

Robinson came off at half-time in Wednesday’s FA Cup third-round replay defeat at Manchester City with a hamstring strain and is expected be out for a week.

He has been replaced between the posts by Simon Eastwood.

Rhodes (foot) and captain Scott Dann (groin) missed the Etihad Stadium encounter.

But while Dann returns to the starting line-up, in place of Matt Kilgallon, Rhodes will start as a substitute having not trained this week.

Rovers boss Gary Bowyer’s third and final change sees Rudy Gestede come in for DJ Campbell who, amid reports he is interesting Millwall, is not in the squad.

Neither is Ruben Rochina whose loan move to La Liga strugglers Rayo Vallecano is believed to be edging close.

Forest, who are four points above eighth-placed Rovers in fifth, have made four changes to the team which started their 1-1 draw at Bolton Wanderers last Saturday.

Their bench includes former Rovers striker Matt Derbyshire.

Forest: Darlow, Jara, Halford, Collins, Harding, Vaughan, Lansbury, Mackie, Paterson, Reid, Cox. Subs: de Vries, Moussi, Majewski, Derbyshire, Abdoun, Henderson, Miller.

Rovers: Eastwood, Henley, Dann, Hanley, Spurr, Lowe, Williamson, Cairney, Taylor, Marshall, Gestede. Subs: Kean, Kilgallon, King, Dunn, Rhodes, Morris, Goodwillie.

Looks a strong line up on paper, I'm never comfortable with the Lowe - Williamson combination in the middle, possibly prefer Cairney in the middle and King in place of Williamson as Rhodes isn't 100%

That would give us more flexibility, but best of luck guys.

Owd Nick you normally make good comments but to say that is a strong line up is a joke, Neither Lowe or Williamson should be in the team never mind the combination of the two and Taylor is a trier but he is simply not good enough if we want to go up, If it's true Rochina is going then clearly Venkys and Bowyer want us to remain in the championship, To say we are making progress looking at that line up makes me angry to be honest, Talent wise it is the worst squad we have had since Bobby Saxton was in charge in the 80's and that is down to Venkys/Bowyer releasing paying off our best players and signing cheapie a and freebies.

Obviously I hope we go up but we are making it more difficult by getting rid of our best players, players that our rivals would like, Can you see people falling over themselves to sign Williamson, Lowe, Taylor?, Bottom half champ and first division teams will take a look if they were going for free, because they are not good enough but that's it.

Bowyer is a nice man but he is not a manager, get rid now and get someone experienced in who will give Rochina game time and will get the best out of him, I'd rather lose the youth team manager than one of the few players we have with genuine talent and flair.

Boyer is building stability into the club, I said very clearly that I didn't like Lowe - Williamson because they get in each others way and it invites teams to attack, as is happening today.

Lowe does a far better job than Williamson in that role.

My only criticism of Bowyer is he plays too defensively with those two in the middle, you can't do that against teams like Forest.

Rochina is definitely not the type of player for today's game.

I would take Williamson off, play Cairney in the middle and if he doesn't want to risk Rhodes bring best on on the right of midfield.

Taylor might be a trier but but I would rather have a trier than someone who hides when the going gets tough.

If Rochina was wrong are you saying Taylor is right though Nick, I believe this game was lost before a ball was kicked due to Bowyers team selection.

Stability is not getting rid of all your best players and signing loads of cheap and free players.

Why did we get rid of Vukevic, Formica, Pederson?, And then sign Judge, Taylor, Marrow, Campbell, Songoo, Kane?, We signed loads of below par players, admittedly there wages will be lower but it's better to keep a smaller higher quality, quality over quantity and we have clearly done exactly the opposite, with the exception of carney and possibly Marshall.

Best we can hope for is 10th place with Bowyer in charge, With this squad we should be looking at promotion, I believe Redknapp, Holloway or Pulis could have taken this squad up and all are managers we could have taken in the last 18 months had the owners had any sense or ambission at all.

As everyone says Williamson nowhere near good enough for this team, especially when he plays him with the equally inept Lowe.

Funny how managers seem incapable of seeing what every fan can see. Said it after the last game, we will never win games playing these 2 in midfield and Cairney wide right.

I got a negative response for saying that we did alright against city but had noting up front while others thought that we had come away with a moral victory expecting us to go to Forest and come away with three points I don't know how they come to these conclusions we can't string results together our midfield is poor we play one forward up expecting to win matches which leaves us with no forward line formation the goal keeping situation is a worry, the majority of players brought in are not up to it,we are what we are a mid table team at best
