Dyche believes draw at Latics will turn out to be a positive result for Clarets

Lancashire Telegraph: Sean Dyche salutes Burnley's fans at Wigan Sean Dyche salutes Burnley's fans at Wigan

SEAN Dyche says he expects Wigan Athletic to emerge as strong promotion contenders in the second half of the season.

Rather than being frustrated not to win, the Clarets boss made the rare step of admitting he was satisfied with a point. And he believes it will prove to be a valuable one when the campaign nears a conclusion.

“They’ve got a new manager, they’ve got a group of players who as often happens have suddenly found and extra yard of energy and pace when a new manager walks in, and we knew that was a tough game,” he said.

He added: “It’s a rare one for me, I’ll accept that point. Normally I’m always searching for the three but I think the timing of coming here makes it very tough – a new manager, different feel, players suddenly finding increased motivation and we were very disciplined to get a point.”

Dyche added: “I personally think that’s arguably the best squad of players in the division, so don’t think you’re going to come to Wigan and have an easy game because you're not in my opinion.

“I’ve seen the finances spent here and the quality of players brought in and it bodes well for them as a future concern. Don’t be surprised if they have a very good second half of the season with that squad of players.”

This was a tough point gained. And the clean sheet is an added bonus. We were never going to "run away" with this league but if we are keep in the hunt then we must be taking at least a point from places like Wigan. Another tough game on Wednesday against an unpredictable Huddersfield side but definitely a winnable game.

I'm loving how the no dads think that the wheels have come off/bubble has burst because we are out of the automatic promotion spots but virtue of a goal difference of 2.

Keep loving it then dear, you've gone from 5 points clear to third place in a matter of weeks at Bubble pop FC but you thick challenged individuals, are buying passports because you think you are in the champions league.
This massive fall from grace was predicted by me, the last pharaoh of football weeks ago and oh how they laughed. My prediction still stands. You will end in the playoffs and that will end badly for you.

At the beginning of the season, before the first ball was kicked, Burnley were written off. Propping up the league, mid table at best. I too had my doubts.
But instead of what everyone expected to happen, they did the opposite, went top of the league and have remained there.
With six points needed for safety, they will have exceeded what was expected of them in January, not a bad result.
Like it or not the EPL, was never a goal of our club this season, being FFP ready was.

The league is where the stats count and it is 2 wins in 10. Now I'm sure you wouldn't be coming out with the same rubbish those other fools from down the road keep coming out with if it were your team on the same run and same position as us.

2 wins 6 draws 2 defeats in the league in last 10 isn't great when you look at the previous 10 league games of 8 wins 1 draw and 1 defeat but at least the team keep picking up points and I think most would agree it's better to keep picking up points than none at all.

look at the likes of Leicester , QPR, Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Brighton and Reading, all of which have had indifferent form just like us over the last 10 games. The exception at present are Derby having a great run now but not prior to the change in manager and Ipswich who have quietly slipped into the playoff places.

It is a tuff league and no games are easy but Burnley fans are enjoying what the team are achieving his season whatever the outcome is come May.

Now If the wheels have come off at Burnley then all I can say is at least we had them on in the first place where as Rovers haven't even got off the axle stands let alone got the spare wheel out the boot.

So Harwood lets have some decent banter from you rather than slip to the level of the other trolls on here from your neck of the woods. I know your team are not playing well. I know your team are in 12th place. I know your club have a huge debt and I know Team Rhodes will be gone next month to ease some of the debt and wage bill.

Oh now I understand why your so jealous and bitter being in the shadow of Burnley Football Club. Don't worry be happy lmao , Happy New Year.

2 wins in 11 and the wheels haven't come off have they?........... Yet
Keep up the good work.
2 wins in 12 is it?

I see it as:-
3 losses out of 23 games.
43 points from 23 games.
Quite a few points clear of 7th.
Stable club.
FFP ready.

In fact all the things that your club have not achieved!
