IT has been another season to forget for Blackburn Rovers, but hopefully we will be able to deliver an occasion to remember for the fans in May.

Helping to organise a Rovers Legends v Supporters’ XI match in aid of the Former Players Association has involved a lot of time and effort, but I’m hoping it will all be worth it.

To get Tugay back to Ewood Park will be brilliant, and we’re delighted that he has committed to the event.

When we were asking people to give a quick response to a player they would like to see back, the Turk was one of the most in-demand.

He is such a character. He was flamboyant but a quality footballer. Fans really took to him, and he had a great time in his eight years with the club, which making the effort to come over from Turkey proves.

The response I’ve had to the event through social media has been phenomenal, so it will be something positive for the supporters to look forward to.

There has been enough negativity surrounding the club to last a lifetime.

The latest outburst from Shebby Singh was ill-advised and not helpful to the cause right now.

It doesn’t matter your whereabouts in the world you are, if you talk to the media it will always get back to people one way or another.

That’s what has happened in this instance, but the timing is all wrong.

This is a massive period for the football club. The last thing you need is statements coming out about the fans and people wanting to talk over the club. All the focus and energy must be on the pitch to preserve our Championship status. Anything else can be sorted out once the season has ended, and hopefully any differences will be ironed out from there.

The only people who can tell you what it’s all about are the three guys behind the scenes.

It would be nice if they could all work together on behalf of the club.

I’ve said before that in football you have team-mates and you won’t necessarily be friends with them all, but you work WITH them to get a result on a Saturday or any other matchday. It’s the same in business. You need togetherness to make things work.

Hopefully through the Legends match we can bring a little of that spirit and unity back to Ewood Park.
