Not first time the paperwork problems hit the club on deadline day. Shefki Kuqi's registration was faxed to a chip shop instead of the league in 2006.

Can't blame that on Singh, Shaw, Agnew etc.

Was it an elementary ****-up - or was there a more sinister reason? The least we deserve is a full explanation.

Get to the bottom of this shambles, Andy. Ask all the pertinent questions - and if they come up with evasive answers or won't give you any answer at all, tell us. And if you can't find out the straight forward way find out another. Enough people must know what went on.

There are rumours of a big bust up between the warring factions in the club. If that is true, someone must know something.

"We just ran out of time" .....plenty of time to sort it the other way though eh!!

Yet again we are a laughing stock.

It can only be to do with money. Otherwise it would have been sorted, you do not just run out of time. Was someone not watching the clock and raising this as an issue....If both parties wanted it done it would have been done please Michael do not fall into the trap that everyone else at the club has done across the last two years of treating us fans with contempt. The two signings would have given the whole club such a lift and we would have gone into tomorrows game with anticipation.....now we just have the reality we are a second rate club with a second rate backroom...where was ur right hand man you just have hired to sort transfers or does he start on Monday!!!!

Anyway we don't necessarily need another No 10 (now where have I heard that recently)...we needed a bloody centre half and a midfielder.

I don't think I have been as angry as this across the last two years...we simply ran out of time....bah humbug your nose is growing!!!

Were Rochina, Vukcevic and Formica suitable for the dirge football played in the Championship? No.

The only ****-up is Appleton stupidly raising expectations by saying that 3 or 4 new players would be coming in and then we end up with an 18-year old academy lad.

we didn't need those 2 players Campbell wont play when best is back and Thomas left sided mid we needed right mid and cover for centre back and right back givet staying so he can get his head down and get on with it the team needs a clear out not adding mediocre players to it

the window is open for 1 month...31 days and we cant sort out the signing of two players ffs....appy must have known he wanted these lads so why the hell wait until the last day....this stinks of lies, lies and more lies....i thought appy would have been his own man but it looks like the venkys are pulling the strings again....more out than in.....forget the play-offs, it's a relegation scrap we're heading for.....i want to hear what happy appy has to say in his pre-match press conference

Maybe if Venkys Blackburn Rovers had a decent board of directors then one of them might be capable of switching on and using the FAX machine correctly. Presuming of course they haven't sold the machine as part of the cutbacks

MA obviously thinks differently than you, and it's him who will get the flack if we lose. He should be able to decide which players he wants and mould a team based on his style rather than K#$n's.

I think a bit of an over-reaction to not bringing in a couple of players. What's hugely more important is how good the new management team are and we should be optimistic right now. If the players we have now are brought up to proper fitness levels and put in a decent shift we should move up the table.

I agree. Not too fussed about missing out on those two. Shame we didn't get Baptiste though...

And is it worth having a punt on QPR going bust in 12-24 months? I'd rather we spent what we do have rather than what we don't. And at the moment we've got nowt.

You have spoken very well so far Mr Appleton, but you are now going down the same slippery slope as your predecessor 's. Please don't treat us as fools, admit you and us have been screwed by the owners and directors.

The loans should have been there for the other positions that need strengthening.

Got to agree,an explanation has been given,we missed out ,if any body doesn't agree what more do you want.For the good of the club I'm glad we got rid of some dross,the rest will be hard to shift.Next we must stop paying high wages for more dross,though I always liked Thomas at west brom.

Running out of time is no excuse. On the positive side, we have been on an improved run of results and the lads bounced back well against Derby after the disappointment against Brighton.

If the results can continue to improve over the next few games I'm sure most will try to forget the disaster of last night. Especially if we can lure them in on loan.

I didn't rate Rochina but you have to be 100% sure he can be replaced if you're going to let a key member of the squad go. I do feel for Appleton at the moment. Try not to let the good run fade as we do not have the time to waste at this stage of the season.

We had a month to sign new players to strengthen the squad and ended up signing no-one and weakening it.

Yes, I repeat a month. No excuses.

Thought as long as deals had been signed extra time was granted i recall Arsenal didn't complete Arshavins signing till a few days later maybe different rules in football league

Don't think Appy has been treated properly with not enough time being devoted to finding the players he wanted to give him extra cover throughout the squad. Most of the time and priority seems to have been spent trying to ship players out first before getting players in and it's been made worse by trying to do it all in the last two days of the window.

I am not one to quickly dish out criticism but this is really poor reporting I would use the word journalism but this is in no way journalism, I could have wrote this article having asking 'excuse me BRFC have we any injuries ahead of tomorrow's game'. Why not ask what happened last night ...was it terms and conditions, was it bad management or what was it. For goodness sake Mr. Cryer grow some balls and get stuck in, ask those difficult questions ......please

In that short period of time he had to assess the current squad sort through all the contracts and decide who he wanted out and who he wanted to come in. Personally I think he did a very good job of it and the fact that someone at the club screwed-up the admin side of it no way reflects on Appleton. Nothing for the manager to say at the press conference except the fact that it is almost certain that both players will sign on loan during the ext week. Not exactly a tragedy is it compared to some things we have seen over the last two years. And its not a relegation scrap for the Rovers, we are still in with a sound chance of making the play-offs the way the team, are playing and with these two new additions then that makes the chance all the more real. Saturday will be the third time we beat Bristol City this season - shame we cant play em every week!

Something is not right in the Palace of Ewood. To lose one player on deadline day is unfortunate to lose two is downright careless.
Sorry Mr French I am an optimist and think Appy is a good un and will do a good job but he must be supported and this is a classic cop out by someone at the Palace of Ewood.
Somkeone appears to have dug their eels in here and we should know who. I hope the LT asks some important questions re this episode as we must have unity if we are to make any progress. We got rid of some dross, this is true, but we definitely needed some additions particularly bearing the current injury problems. I am sure the players we have will under Mr. Appleton will do their best but we most certainly would have done better with a little more help and one or two players in the right positions. A win against BC will help.

I am a Rovers fan, but I live in Swindon (makavelli will say something about this!) the Swindon board have come out and clearly explained why our/star player had to be sold, just as the fans were starting to get angry - now everything is ok. They tried to sign 3 players but the FL vetoed them - again, the board have given explanations. We get nothing from venky's and their cronies, talk about night and day.... I really fear for our future.... Venkys ARE taking us in one direction and will continue to do so.

Hi Wellsy11 - I used to live at abbey meads a few years ago so know the county ground and moonrakers quite well....Paulo was so close to walking out last week and not sure he will stay even now. BTW things are not all OK yet at the County Ground I hear...with Di Canio that is. He has been 100% committed to the Robins so far but reckon its all or nothing with PC so could be a tipping point now.

Mr French....i have to admire you optimism....but if the truth be known we have very little chance of promotion through the play-offs even if (and it's a massive IF) we make it to a position to contend the play-offs...we have a greater chance of the relegation scrap i spoke of.....

Which in itself would be a great achievement from the very low point that we started out from at the beginning of the season.

what do you expect if you put salvage hunters from preston and portsmouth in charge. Hope rovers dont go the same way. Madame in Puna will be very happy at money save getting rid of Rochina and other players. Pity they couldnt offload moneybags Robinson to west ham or Madam Desai would have celebrated with a few extra cups of Darjeeling tea. Just like Kean got rid of Nelson, Samba, emerton and others to save on wage bill Appleton and Shaw are emulating the same. When are they going to Poona to meet Madame.

The whole world knows we need right sided player, a good midfielder and defender. Where are they?? Campbell is in rich vein of form and with the stupid decision to get rid of Rochina we needed some more striking options.
