Rovers boss likely to make changes for East Lancs derby
8:56am Friday 30th November 2012 in Football
By Alex James, Assistant Sports Editor
CHANGE Berg
ROVERS boss Henning Berg has hinted there will be changes to his side for the East Lancashire derby at Burnley on Sunday.
Berg saw his side lose 2-1 to Bolton on Wednesday night leaving the Norwegian with just five points from a possible 18 since taking charge.
And, having stuck largely with the same side since his arrival, the Rovers chief admits he may need to freshen the team up, having been impressed by lively cameos from Colin Kazim-Richards and Morten Gamst Pedersen as substitutes in the midweek defeat.
“We will have to think about how we play the Burnley game,” he said.
“Kaz (Kazim-Richards) was more like we would like him to be every time. His pass for the goal was very, very good, he used his strength he was winning balls he was difficult to play against. That is what we want to see every time he is on the pitch.
“Morten put good deliveries into the box and that has maybe been lacking a little bit.
“If we start the Burnley game the way we finished the Bolton one we will be fine. If we don’t we will be in big trouble.”
But Berg believes his side will be able to bounce back from one Lancashire derby disappointment ahead of the weekend trip to Turf Moor.
“It shouldn’t be difficult, we play Burnley,” said Berg. “Everyone knows what that means. If you can’t pick yourself up for a game like that then you shouldn’t be in football.
“We don’t play football just for fun, this is our profession. With that comes a worth ethic and standards that has to be met.
“Professional footballers have to be able to learn to take defeat and handle wins. That is a big part of football and I expect them to be ready for Sunday.”
The Blackburn boss is also keen to avoid a repeat of the slow start his men suffered in the Bolton defeat with Kevin Davies’ opener coming after barley 100 seconds.
“To start the game like we did was very surprising in a local derby. We gave them too much space.
For us to expect to win the game by starting that way is very surprising and very frustrating. It is nowhere near where we want to be.
It got a little bit better but we were not as fluid as we would have liked to have been.
“At least in the last 20 minutes we had the right attitude to compete and to fight and to make sure we were still in the game.
For me it was strange that we didn’t have that attitude from the start. We have enough experience in the team to know that.”
And the Norwegian is only too aware that his side have to start tuning possession and chances into goals and points.
He added: “We had more chances than Millwall, we had more chances than Bolton but we still end up losing the game even though our performances were not where we want to be.
“At the moment we are not good enough to get back into it. The last two home games we have been disappointed and I have been in football long enough to know that can happen.”

Maybe the Telegraph can get Murphy to point at pot holes or vandalised playgrounds or people parking in disabled bays. He has lots of experience just standing there and pointing, I think it could work. What about Wind Turbines Spoil TV pictures and then a nice pic of Danny Murphy pointing at the offending turbines. It could be like the Mo Farrah finishing photo where you put your own background in.
Danny Murphy points at the grand canyon, or Danny Murphy points at the missile damage in Gaza. Please can we have this instead of him pointing at the ball, the telegragh can't possibly keep paying out the spot the ball winners if Murphy keeps giving away the answer.

CKR changed the game because we were crying out for a second striker you goon! At 60 mins and 2-0 down that switch should have been made. You left it FAR too late. CKR showed once again that he has absolutely no ball control or shooting ability. The only decent piece of play from him was the assist, EVERY single other ball he received he fluffed, check the replay and tell me i'm lying. CKR is NOT the standard required. Please tell me Nuno Gomez is injured because if not its an absolute travesty that he wasnt on the bench on Wednesday night.
We should start with 2 up-top vs Burnley and use Rochina as a sub if things go badly as a third 'in the hole' striker.
We are BRFC in a league that tbh, with our squad, we should be bossing. At home especially, we MUST play an attacking formation with 2 up front otherwise Rhodes just becomes isolated and we have a shocker.
Berg mentions "we played really well in the last 15 mins vs Bolton and Millwall", maybe thats because they were both 2-0 up and decided to defend that lead like most teams do? Hardly a reflection on our skill that we had more chances in the last 15 mins.
We need a manager with hair. Paul Ince, Steve Kean, Henning Berg. Theres a pattern here!

Six games in and to me HB looks well and truly lost.
I would not be at all confident of avoiding a defeat to Burnley (and a measure of our continued decline is that in reality that is how most Rovers fans are viewing it).
Reasons for disappointment at this early stage where improvements could have been expected include:
1. No changes to backroom staff
2. No improvement to sustained energy and fitness levels.
3. Failure to maintain clean sheets.
4. No improvement in team set up and tactics in any part of the field.
5. Failure to address individual player shortcomings like Rochina's passing.
Notwithstanding that turning Rovers around is going to be a long process one would expect to see small increments of progress from the start and, the bottom line is that this has not been happening under Berg. He now looks in danger of running out of time to make a start. If the small changes do not start falling into place soon then the larger improvements are unlikely to follow and if he loses to Burnley on Sunday he will be very much up against it.

passingfootball wrote:Good post ,why would Rovers need a "defensive coach" when we have Berg
Seeing that berg himself was a defender himself in his playing days, it would be better if he takes total control of the defensive side, theres no need for a defensive coach now, perhaps an attack-coach could be a possibility, someone like Shearer could be a better addition to the backroom staff than Hendry.
as manager ,it makes no sense , surely that reputed 8,000 pounds a week could go to a couple of more productive uses fitness coach /surely Berg must have some connections perhaps in Norway where he can get better coaching/management support that he is getting now .
It will be BERG`S head in the chopping block a few more defeats NOT Hendry`s or Black`s , as far as Hendry it appears as though his position is set in concrete whatever happens, so maybe the story is true that he owes someone at Rovers a lot of money and he stays till it`s all paid off irrespective of results.

That really is the only chance that Berg has to keep his job and get us promoted.

What the hell is that Scottish gambling drunk still doing at the club? I could see why he was there under Kean as a drinking buddy to listen to all of his tall stories, but what does Berg see in him?

How can dunny accept to loose two games in a raw in ewood and still sit in the nursing room. Common Dunny show ur presence atleast 45 mts in ground 2ro.
Is there any way to give passage for Danny Murphy, Euthu,Formica,Ribero and get a quality player in the middle.

ean have placed it in. Berg's musings over how to change the team are akin to rearranging the chairs after a gas explosion has wrecked the house.
The required changes are apparent to all: 2 up front, drop Murphy and Etuhu, bring Givet back in. Yet still we have to endure the shower of sh, that was put out on Wednesday. If Burnley can't get a result on Sunday then the should be forced by the league to forfeit the points at the start of the season in future.
On top of the inconvenience of being herded into the enemy's ramshackle ground I fear that those who attend will have to suffer the ultimate humiliation of a defeat to a foe holding a 34 year grudge. If that happens then Venkys should prepare for a level of discontent that will make last December's visit of Bolton seem like a picnic.

So if he has been on such a bad run, imagine how much better it will be when he starts winning. After inheriting an appalling side and only being in charge for 6 games. Yours truly Venky PRChrisDeBerg wrote: “It shouldn’t be difficult, we play Burnley,” said Berg. “Everyone knows what that means. If you can’t pick yourself up for a game like that then you shouldn’t be in football. “We don’t play football just for fun, this is our profession. With that comes a worth ethic and standards that has to be met." Hahahahahahaha... Berg, Classic statement!!! I love this man for his honesty!! I dont need to further comment on his taunt to the Burnleh fans, he smummed it up in a paragraph! :) RTIDOh yeah...you've got to love Kentaro's buddy Berg. With his managerial record of 7 points from a possible 48 then he is a real high flyer!!! So what standards have got to be met?? The lowest possible?? If that's the case then he must be the most successful football manager currently employed.
Two wins in twenty is it now D2I? Sick that win rate in your pipe etc. etc.
