Blackburn Rovers announce stand sponsor
10:25am Thursday 22nd November 2012 in Football
BLACKBURN Rovers have announced a two-year sponsorship deal for the Riverside Stand at Ewood Park with Regulatory Finance Solutions (RFS).
A management consultancy business who provide regulatory expertise for the financial services industry, RFS work closely with the UK’s major banks, life and insurance companies.
RFS Chief Executive Officer, John Turner, is a lifelong Rovers fan, who sees this as an ideal opportunity to return to his roots and mix business and pleasure, whilst expanding the RFS brand and footprint in the North West. Turner said: “I used to sit in the old Riverside Stand as a schoolboy and have been a season ticket holder over the years before and after the new Riverside Stand was developed.
“Supporting Rovers is a real passion of mine and I’m delighted to sponsor my hometown team.”
Greg Coar, Head of Commercial and Marketing at Rovers, said: “When you speak to John, you can hear the passion for the club loud and clear. It’s fantastic that he sees a commercial benefit for his company is aligning RFS with Rovers and, as a staunch fan, he is justifiably proud to have such a visible presence at Ewood Park.”
Paul Agnew, Operations Director at Rovers, added: “It is very encouraging for us to secure this stand sponsorship with RFS, particularly as the man at the helm has such strong Rovers connections. We are fighting hard in a trying economic climate to bring new business to Ewood Park and this new contract provides a clear indication that we are moving in the right direction.”

I believe that they once tried to knock it down in the seventies - but the usual moans and groans that could be heard echoing around the stand from the 'riversiders' frightened the builders away. Actually it used to be a decent and proper stand when it had the top tier but now it resembles a cow shed.

The rumour I heard about the Riverside was Uncle Jack would rebuild it if the ground capacity was filled regularly, this never happened, but your right when the TV cameras switch on its the first thing you see, ugly as it is we could sell it to the Dingles to replace the cowshed!

Blackburn is a lower than average wage earning town and the loan industry is booming. The RFS site is offering loans to unemployed people with no questions asked. Any chance the LET runs a proper check instead of simply repeating the firm's PR puff ?
'Toon fans are rightly up in arms about Wonga trying to sponsor. Are there any proper journos left at LET ?
We did have a local sponsor, Wayne Wilde, and he left in disgust over Venkys misrule.
Can't some of you guys see further/or ask further than the end of your noses ?

Anybody remember exactly what year it was that they started smashing up the roof of the old Darwen End trying to get into the snack bar at the back. I'm thinking it was around 1980, possibly earlier ?
Regarding the Riverside, the biggest issue I have is the walkway at the front. Bloody annoying when 'the faithful' stroll in late and stroll out early. They should keep the doors locked during the match and make those feckers use the top gates at the back.

1. Principal Based Regulation and Treating Customers Fairly.
2. Complaint Handling
3. Quality Assurance.
Three principals that the current owners and management no little about so perhaps they've got the sponsorship for nothing in return for a few lessons on how to treat the supporters!!!!!!!!!!
