ACCRINGTON Stanley are waiting to find out whether James Beattie will accept an offer to become the club’s new player-coach.
The Lancashire Telegraph understands that Reds boss Leam Richardson has held talks with Beattie about the possible role, with the duo friends since their days together as youngsters at Blackburn Rovers.
Richardson was appointed as Stanley’s permanent manager last week and is looking to add to his backroom staff.
He is also eager to bring in a striker and has looked at possible loan options.
Beattie, 34, has been a free agent since leaving League One side Sheffield United in the summer.
Finances could yet be a stumbling block but the Reds may find out as soon as today if Beattie will accept their offer.
