SURPRISE package Chorley aim to turn up the heat on the Northern League’s top two tomorrow as they bid for local bragging rights and a crucial victory over near neighbours Preston in what is turning into a memorable campaign.
Andy Holdsworth’s men were rock bottom last season but have enjoyed a stunning revival in fortunes as they have pushed on this term and are riding high in third spot with five games to go.
And when they welcome Chorley to Windsor Park they can lay down another marker of their ambitions and bid to keep pace with leaders St Annes, who have a free date, and second-placed Leyland, who face a trickier than it appears trip to Carnforth.
Darwen are now in the top six and are pushing hard now for the Lancashire Cup places and they can take a big step towards the top five when they go to Lancaster.
Fixtures
Barrow v Kendal, Carnforth v Leyland, Chorley v Preston, Lancaster v Darwen, Morecambe v Fleetwood, Netherfield v Blackpool St Annes free date
