Lancashire League Saturday round-up

On Saturday Lowerhouse were beaten at Accrington despite a seven-wicket haul from pro Francois Haasbroek.

He helped bowl out Accy for 155 – but a classy 55 from Graham Lloyd was pivotal.

And then Ashar Zaidi defied the pain from a knee injury to claim five wickets as the House collapsed to 132 all out.

Shanan Stewart hit 59 as Ramsbottom beat Enfield by five wickets and Todmorden had a resounding win over Haslingden. Simon Newbitt thrashed his way 70 as Tod eased past Haslingden’s 99.

Mansoor Amjad made a fine ton for Colne – but they were still beaten at Rawtenstall as Nilantha Cooray’s 95 steered them home and the efforts of Church duo Phil Sykes and Andrew Bentley were rewar-ded as they won at Burnley.

Sykes and Bentley left Turf Moor in their whites to go and get their club’s Water Hog to aid mopping up and a 29-over game was played.

Burnley posted 144-5 with Imad Wasim (66) and Michael Kelly (55) starring but Saeed Anwar’s 48 eased Church home.

Joe Scuderi made a winning return to Nelson as his side beat Rishton.

Neil Thompson claimed 5-22 as Rishton were 115 all out and 51 from Stuart Lemon then got Nelson over the line with Scuderi unbeaten on six at the end.
