NATHAN Billington of Blackburn Harriers has climbed to the top of the ‘Power of 10’ north west rankings for the U15 hammer after a scintillating performance at last Sunday’s McCains Young Athletes League at Witton Park.

The 14-year-old threw a massive personal best of 29.73m, beating his previous best of 22.93, in the third meeting of the league.

Billington also climbed to third in the discus rankings after chalking up another PB with 28.22m.

There were many good performance from Harriers across the board, including victory for Joe Pearse in the U17 400m hurdles in a time of 61.8 seconds. He also ran 15.5m in the 100m hurdles, coming second, and 12.1s in the 100m.

In the U15 200m, Jake Almond came first in 24.2s. Phoebe Howe was runner-up in the U15 girls 800m, registering a time of 2:22, while Elizabeth Greenwood ran 4:49 in the U15 girls 1500m race.

Jenny Gray came first in the U13 75m ‘B’ race in a time of 11.1s, while Robert Wong (2:15) finished third in the U17 men’s 800m.

Daniel Fenwick posted a time of 14.4s in the U13 100m, and Holly Ballantyne recorded 56.7s in coming second in the U17 women’s 300m hurdles.
