BRIERFIELD middle distance star Ben Lindsay has vowed to take a leaf out of European silver medallist Mo Farah's book after rubbing shoulders with Dame Kelly Holmes.

The 20-year-old Pendle Athletics Club runner was one of 40 youngsters handpicked to take part in a 10-day educational camp in Loughborough as part of Holmes' Norwich Union-funded On Camp with Kelly' scheme.

Lindsay earned his right to join the middle-distance camp after impressing the double Olympic gold medallist at the World Cross Country Championships in Kenya in 2007.

And the St Mary's College student - who trains with Farah at the University - is confident the duo will help him fulfil his dream of competing at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India.

"Kelly is one of Britain's greatest Olympians and you can't take that for granted," said Lindsay.

"But I also get on really well with Mo because we are based close to each other. It is great to have him there as well and he is someone I can really go to for advice.

"I am still relatively young but I'm definitely targeting the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and hopefully these camps can help me get to where I want to be."

Two-time Commonwealth champion Holmes said: "Ben is one of the people Britain is looking at to step up and produce the goods."

l Norwich Union is working with Kelly Holmes to prepare future champions through her successful mentoring scheme, 'On Camp with Kelly'.
