DAVID Parkinson led the way for Chorley Athletic and Triathlon Club at the latest Cuerden Valley Parkrun race.

Parkinson finished in an excellent time of 21 minutes and 10 seconds.

He was followed by Stephen Cumming (24mins 46secs), Chorley’s fastest female finisher Finty Royle (26 mins 18secs), Alison Parkinson (27mins 37secs), Ian Grace (28mins 35secs), Joanne Heron (28mins 37secs) and Jackie Shore (33mins 5secs).

Anna Maria Crabtree, meanwhile, came home in a highly respectable 24mins 10secs at the Tilgate Parkrun in Crawley.

Five Chorley runners were in action at the opening South East Lancs cross country event at Heaton Park.

Paul Wareing (81st) was disappointed with his time of 46mins 17secs.

But Barry Chester (151st and fourth Vet 60) and Phil McCullagh (180th) were pleased with their performances.

Mike Coppin and Tom Hilton used the course for some training laps.
